British V8 2010 will indeed be held on the west side of Indianapolis from July 8-10 (Thursday through Saturday). I would recommend arriving on Wednesday and departing on Sunday.

We will have activities beginning Thursday morning....we are waiting on a contract from O'Reilly Raceway Park (formerly IRP) for the road course and will also have an autocross at this location in the afternoon. Contracts are also pending for indoor go-kart racing (gas carts with good building ventilation), a visit to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway (garages, track(s), Gasoline Alley, and the museum), and a possible visit to Andretti-Green corporate offices and shoppe. Tech sessions and conversion comaradarie is a given.

We've got a British pub lined up for dinner one evening, and of course we will have an event banquet and auction on Saturday evening at the host hotel.

The hotel we've contracted with has given us a GREAT rate and is conveniently located to I-465 as well as ORP (IRP).

We hope to have a registration form available within the next few weeks (we have to SEE the contracts first!) and will advise accordingly.

British V8 2010 is NOT a car show; we have no awards, etc. It is a gathering of enthusiasts to have some fun; to be able to put their cars into some spirited, safe driving, in a controlled environment; to met up with old friends and gain some new friends.

British V8 is open to anyone with a V6/V8/converted British car...to anyone interested in doing a conversion....and we've even had a few non-British conversions attend in the past!

For a history of the MGV8/British V8 meets, visit [www.britishv8.org]

"British V8 2010 - Converting Indy!"

Hope to see you there!

Mike, you've used up all that "curb service" after last year when you had two of us waiting on you down in the parking lot. I'll be there with the "Irish" as well. Kelly, I'll even try a sip of the Dickel as well. See you there!

Well dam Bill, I really had a good thing going with that curb service...looks like you and Kelly figured me out on this one...well, the truth can now be revealed...I will drink the Dickel and the Irish anytime and any place...on a curb, street or in the sanctity of a motel room..i guess you could say "I'm easy"
cheers!

Looks like you guys have started a tradition. Well OK then, I'll bring along the Rye. But don't expect curb service!

Thanks Jim, I really enjoyed the J.B. Rye. It is a excellent substitute for Dickel. They are different, but each stands on its on merits. Appears Carl and Mike just aren't too particular. I'm surprised Mike did not have a tray that fit on the door of his car so we could serve him in "The Drive-Thru."
Look forward to seeing "All of You" in Indy in July. I think Mike & Bill Guzman are serving the 7-Ups!

A question has come up regarding age limits for our indoor karting activity....here is our response....verbiage direct from the contract with Fastimes...

"All drivers must be five feet tall, 18 years of age, and be able to present a valid picture ID......."

"Lie-swapping and tire-kicking in the parking lot"

Lies, tire kickin', & racin'...

It doesn't get any better than that. Quick, somebody invite Darell Watrip & Mike Joy!

Since this is my first adventure with this group, and you all seem to be pretty classy, I'd like to know if there is a "dress code" for the banquet? I would also like to know what kind of items are up for auction.

Dress code is usually t-shirts and shorts...same as the parking lot "lies 'n tire kickin' ".....nothing special to get concerned about!
Auction items are probably an unknown until the day of the banquet.

Boy, are you going to be disappointed! If it weren't for low class, most of us wouldn't have any class.

Dress however makes you feel most comfortable.

The track day will require long pants and long sleeves....and no open toed shoes/sandles.

Karting will require same - the facility has driving suits that they require to be worn (along with a hoodie and neck brace)...but if the temperature is too hot, they will waive the driving suit requirement.

I think Black Tie would be awesome for the banquet....and I probably have a tuxedo t-shirt somewhere here in the house.

BritishV8 T-shirts are always a recommended choice for wearing at the meet.

Each year there's a different annual-meet shirt with a unique embroidered logo on the left-side chest. A different color shirt for each year too, so these shirts are collectible. Sometimes these shirts even have pockets, which I suppose are probably popular with the sort of people who iron their T-shirts;) I certainly recommend that everyone attending the meet buy the annual T-shirt when they register for the meet. Any profits from the meet T-shirt sale go toward the meet organizer's expenses.

This year - if you hurry - you also have the option of buying a limited edition BritishV8.org website T-shirt! The design is deliberately different from any of the meet shirts - with a big, bold, silk-screened logo on both front and back, and no pocket. You can get the website T-shirt in classic black, which to me seems the perfect choice for an evening function such as a banquet. (Also available in forest green heather...)

Rick, black tie? Are you kidding. We'd all look like a bunch of Big Daddy Ed Roth wannabe's ! And I bet a long tailed coat would be a bit warm on a July evening in Indy. Still, the idea does have merit of some sort, I'll have to look at the second hand store this weekend.
