BRITISH V8 2009-- Motel
Posted by: madmax
Date: November 29, 2008 11:09AM

The Host motel for British V8 2009 (in Durham, NC) is:
-- Extended Stay Deluxe
-- 4610 S. Miami Blvd
-- Durham, NC 27703
-- desk phone: (919) 941-2878

Call by APRIL 15th, M-F 9 am to 4 pm

UPDATE: area manager Rachel Beebe will personally take care of our group and make sure everyone gets booked correctly. You can speak to her directly by calling her cell phone: (919) 521-0425

They are holding a block of 50 rooms for us at a fantastic rate of $67/night! (But, this is the reason you have to call early!)

Two other things to note: a) there are TWO Extended Stays on Miami Blvd! This one is north of the highway and smaller, and thus "we" will be the center of attention! (The other one is larger and more expensive.) You can look for your OWN accomodations, natch, but I don't think you'll find a deal anywhere near as good as this in that area! So, please stay with the rest of us! :-)

Secondly, there is an outdoor pool (it'll be HOT down here!), access to Internet (small fee), but each of the rooms has a KITCHEN! So, feel free to travel with food, bring food, lots of drinks, etc., as you'll have a fridge to keep stuff in!

Cheers,

Max Fulton

Yep! Made mine yesterday.....I'm a firm believer of the early bird getting the proverbial worm.
Also planning to make it to VIR to watch the Flying Circus boys in action prior to heading to the motel.

I made my vacation request yesterday (first day allowed). I'll know in a couple of weeks if it's been approved.

I can't put in the vacation request until after the first of the year, but I don't forsee any problems and will be making my reservations in a few days. Thanks Max for all the work you're putting in, it will be a lot of fun I'm sure.

Just called to make reservations and was told that the rooms have been moved to the other, larger, hotel. Mac is on vacation and I was told to call Rachel tomorrow.

ALL:

News of the "move to larger motel" is NEWS to Me!

Mac has all my contact info, so am surprised I wasn't called. I'll look into what is going on. AS LONG as they honor the original price, I don't see a problem-- there are actually more facilities in the bigger motel, more parking, etc. (It is, truthfully, barely a 1/4 mile away, other side, from the "smaller" motel.)

Still, I would have appreciated a call first.....

Will update when I know more. Probably Wednesday.

Thanks for patience and to those that booked early!

Max

All:

Thanks to Dave Gable for calling *today* and talking with Rachel.

Obviously she and Mac did not communicate, as those who booked LAST week (when Mac was working) had no problems.

I have spoken with a hotel staff member who was going to speak with Rachel tonight. I have a meeting set up with her at 9:30 tomorrow.

I will get things resolved, one way or another.

Stay Tuned!

Max

Sorry I couldn't help you Max, I didn't ask for Mac when I called and never got the guy's name. But he knew exactly what was going on so I'm guessing it was him from the sound of things. I just assumed they were really on the ball and had informed the staff. Should have known better I guess.

ALL:

ISSUE RESOLVED! :-)

My thanks again to Dave Gable for talking with Rachel. Apparently "reciting the names" of all those who had registered convinced her that there must really BE a convention coming afterall! (She still hasn't talked with Mac, who's on an incognito vacation, but no matter.)

EVERYTHING IS AS IT SAYS: that hotel, that price, those days. :-) I will check in with them next week to see how many have reserved, but they have "taken care of it" and conscientiously, too.

In fact, ANYONE who has a problem with their reservation is invited to CALL the "big boss", Rachel Beebe, on her cell phone: (919) 521-0425. She is the area manager of the Extended Stay motels, and was "filling in" for Mac during his vacation. In the future, anyone should be able to call at ANYTIME and book in with anyone behind the desk. (This is what Mac failed to do before going on vacation. :-( :-( )

Let's hope smooth sailing from here..... :-)

My apologies to those who were confused. My thanks to those who insisted on booking a room anyway. :-)

Max
