Ken and Katie autocrossing the TR6 in Toronto, Ont.
Further to Martyn's post on autocrossing in Barrie, we've been having fun here in Toronto. The local Porche Club uses the parking lot of my place of work, The Toronto Star. I approched the organizer, Mario Marrello, very nice guy by the way, and he agreed to let us participate as guests. The first event in May was a cool clear spring day. Ski jackets were the order of the day and we kept our helmets on for warmth! There were 6 of us, my LBC, a Carrera 4, a Boxster S, and three 944's. The race prepared 944 turned a sub 70 sec run, the Carrera and Boxster ran about 72 sec. and the rest of us ran about 75 sec runs. Minimum 6 timed laps each. Great fun was had by all!
The second event in June again brought us clear skies but rain from the previous day gave us a water hazard in the middle of the new course which provided some excitement. A whole new group of club members showed up which included two 911's, a Boxster and a Carrera. The race prepared 911 turned a sub 62 second run while the rest of us were all in the 65-67 sec. range. Even more fun was had by all!! Max and Emily put on such a great event and you weren't there to enjoy it. Don't let it happen again! Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 06/29/2009 12:16PM by TR6-6SPD. |

Thanks Martyn. The new tires perform alot better too. I still tend to swing the back end of the car out but that's probably just too much enthusiasm with the right foot.
