30 Year Anniversary
As busy as work and family have been over the past few months, I almost forgot...I've had my B for 30 years this month! Doesn't seem that long. I know many of you have had your cars long term as well. Just wondering how long other members have had theirs?

Re: 30 Year Anniversary
Congratulations to you both! My Midget has been with me for 15 years now and I hope for many more to come. Had the V6 in it for just over 10 years now.

Re: 30 Year Anniversary
If I'd kept my original pull handle '64 MGB, I would be celebrating 42 years of ownership - as it is however, I've had my current '76 since 2000.

Re: 30 Year Anniversary
Congratulations Scott!
I've had my GT for 22 years, and it's been V8-powered since about 1992... I think I knew when I was doing the swap that I'd have the GT for a long time - I love the car - but I thought I'd have a lot of other cars too. Where's that Formula Ford I've wanted for so long!!! |

Re: 30 Year Anniversary
Wow, me too! Bought the car in '79 and swapped to V8 power by '88 iirc. Couldn't give you exact dates though.

Re: 30 Year Anniversary
My dad bought his '63 MGB new in the Spring of that year, so 46 years.
Robin & bought our '79 MGB in 1988 while we were dating , so 21 years. I bought my '68 Camaro 28 years ago. |

Re: 30 Year Anniversary
My Dad has owned his Bugeye since 1968 and his '61 MKII Sprite that he purchased in 1972 was sold to me about 1990. I purchased my Bugeye in 1994 and skipping over the rest, our '80 MGB was purchased in 2003. Although I can't claim length of ownership based on years, I can claim a pretty high percent of my life. ;-)

Re: 30 Year Anniversary
Yeah, I kid my wife and tell her I've loved my B longer than I've loved her. :-) Even after all these years, I still have a feeling of anticipation/excitement every time I get behind the wheel. It’s nice to see lots of other long term owners out there too. Wonder what it is about us that causes us to stick with our cars for so long?

Re: 30 Year Anniversary
Coming up on my 40th in a couple years. Bought my '66 roadster in February of 1972 and immediately stuck a 215, Muncie and Jag XKE rear in it. Phase 2 was the turbocharged Olds 215 a few years later and now Phase 3 with an LT1 Chevy, T-56 six speed and C4 Corvette running gear front and back - oh yea, it's 11 1/2" wider also. No turning back now.
