BritishV8 2010 - Track Day - PLEASE READ
We made another site visit to Indianapolis and had a great meeting with the manager of OPR (IRP) regarding our track day.
************************************************************************************************************* We will conduct a tech inspection of all cars prior to their being allowed onto the road course. Open and closed cockpit cars are allowed - NO requirement for a hardtop on convertibles. There will be a similar tech inspection prior to the autocross. 1) The boot and cockpit of each car must be emptied of any item not properly fastened down. 2) The windscreen must be free of cracks 3) The car must have seat belts (OEM or racing style are both acceptable); 4) There is NO requirement of a catch can. 5) There is NO requirement of a safety hoop/roll bar. 6) The driver MUST wear long pants, a long sleeved shirt (or comparable racing suit), closed toe shoes, and an approved safety helmet. 7) Passengers ARE allowed, providing they wear the above mentioned clothing/helmet, and their seat also has a restraint system. 8) No participants UNDER the age of 18 allowed. ********************************************************************************************** Registrations for track day have been slow in arrival to say the least. If you are sitting on the fence in reference to signing up for track day, hop off of it NOW and get your registration in to us. If you have already registered for the event, and now choose to participate in track day, please let me know NOW and send in the additional fee ($80). This is a costly venture for BritishV8 and we do NOT was to cancel the road course experience at O'Reilly Raceway Park. But...unless we get more interest (read registrations with cash-in-hand) in this activity, we will have to look for a new activity. The autocross is included in your registration fee, and is not effected by the road course registration. Thanks....and get those registration mailed or e-mailed in today! |

Dumb question, what would be an approved helmet. I do have a half helmet for riding my atv. Will it have to be a full face helmet? Maybe I can borrow a atv, motorcycle or snowmobile helmet. Would the half helmet or any of those be acceptable?
thanks, dave b. |

A half-helmet would not be acceptable for this track day. Bicycle helmets are also not acceptable.
Either an open face or a full face helmet is acceptable. (We recommend full face....but it's your head.) I would think that a motorcycle or snowmobile helmet would satisfy the track/insurance requirements, |

"The windscreen must be free of cracks"
A major PITA that I was not planning to re-visit this Summer! |

We met today with the member of the Champaign County Sports Car Club who will be in charge of the autocross.
We will have an interesting, fun course for you...we have a LOT of room available, so it will not be like the autocrosses of years past, where we had to contend with traffic islands. |

This photo was taken at track day at Grattan Raceway in Michigan during BritishV8 2004....looks like fun, doesn't it?! Pictured (left to right) is Carl Floyd, Mikel Moor, and Pete Mantell.
Four more days to save on the registration fee...after May 31st, even registration increases to $75. Road course participation at ORP is an $80 fee...the autocross is included in your event registration. It's time to hop off of the fence and send in your registration for BritishV8 2010 - Converting Indy! Carl Floyd - Mikel Moor - Pete Mantell at speed at Grattan in 2004 |

Jim, I'd expect the tech for the autocross to be similar as per what Rick posted above, "We will conduct a tech inspection of all cars prior to their being allowed onto the road course. Open and closed cockpit cars are allowed - NO requirement for a hardtop on convertibles. There will be a similar tech inspection prior to the autocross. " Doesn't look like much different from most other autocross events I've been in as far as tech.
