British V8 - 2014 Hotel & Accommodations
I have finally found a hotel that can accommodate us at a reasonable rate (for Colorado Springs) and is away from traffic and congestion.
The Hilton Garden Inn [hiltongardeninn3.hilton.com] has agreed to provide the number of rooms at $102/night. That is for a room with 2 queens or a king. A full cooked to order breakfast is included in the price as well as a hospitality room for the duration of the meet. The normal rack rate for these rooms is $139/night and does not include breakfast. I had spoken earlier to the Hyatt Place hotel., After visiting it and looking at the accommodations (a bit on the well used side - can I say ratty?) , lack of seclusion and ease of entry (a nightmare at best), I decided that the Hilton Garden Inn was a better value for an additional $3/night. The Hyatt claimed to provide a breakfast, but it was breakfast sandwiches whereas the Hilton has eggs, omelets, pancakes, waffles, cereal, pastries etc. The Hilton has a parking area behind the hotel that is secluded and hidden from the street. We can bring our own food and beverage into the hospitality room with no additional waivers, however because of liability issues, any alcohol may not be removed from the room unless it is in covered opaque glasses, i.e. leave the bottles and cans in the waste containers. Once the contract is in place I will be able to provide a confirmation # that you can use in making reservations. The sales manager agreed to a cutoff date of 4 weeks prior to the event. Both king and double queen rooms will be available. One item that Rick Ingram had suggested was a wash station. The hotel said that could be provided if we are out of the drought water usage restrictions next year. Colorado Springs is currently in midst of a 3 year drought and stage II-B water usage restrictions are in place which limit how and when cars may be hand washed [www.csu.org] Local dining is available directly across the street in the Promenade Shops at Briargate and includes the following: Bara Sushi Biaggi's Ristorante Italian Bird Dog BBQ California Pizza Kitchen Chammps Americana Garbanzo Mediterranean Grill P. F. Changs Panera Bread Qdoba Mexican Grill Starbucks Ted's Montana Grill A five minute drive south on I-25 will bring you to: Old Chicagos TGI Friday's Hooters Outback Steakhouse Edited 4 time(s). Larry, I suppose they have an Airport Shuttle also? Both Richard and & I plan to fly out. The LONG trip is asking too much of gl-ASS. :) Sounds like you have the accommodations covered! My car can handle the trip but the body can't.

Kelly,
This Hilton does not have shuttle service. That said, I am sure we can make arrangements to have you picked up at the airport. Larry |

I may also decide to fly, so may need info on airport. Rental car from Denver may work best, I'd be happy to share a ride from airport to Hilton Garden Inn.
Good hotel choice! |

Re: British V8 - 2014 Hotel & Accommodations
Airport Info:
Denver Int'l Airport (DEN) to the hotel either via I-225 & I-25 or E-470 & I-25 is about 78 miles. The E-470 route is faster but is a toll road without pay booths that uses license plate info to charge tolls. How it works with rental cars is here: [www.expresstoll.com] Colorado Springs Municipal Airport (COS) to the hotel is about 20 miles. Directions from either airport are available at the hotel site [hiltongardeninn3.hilton.com] I've flown in and out of both. There are shorter lines and less hassle at COS but the fares are more expensive and there are no direct flights. American connects through Dallas-Ft Worth, Delta through Salt Lake and United through Denver. I just checked Avis and a Sun-Thur rental for a standard car at DEN is $352. The same rental at COS is $264. Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 09/05/2013 06:38PM by lars49. |
