Wonder if I can squeeze in a visit to the Air Force Academy? I have two Eagle Scouts from our Troop there.

Looks like they have a self-guided tour for visitors.

Carl, let's synch up on visiting the academy. My son was the corps commander of his Air Force JrROTC unit; I'm sure he'd like to go too. I'd forgotten but I know someone who's husband works there too so I'll reach out and see if she can give us any tips.

Regarding Wednesday:

The dyno runs are about 1/2 hour. So you folks that are doing the dyno will probably finish up about 1:30.

The Garden of the Gods only takes about 20 minutes to drive through the park, but I would leave plenty of time for pictures.

The climb to the Will Rogers Shrine of the sun is about 1.5 miles, but since you will have paid admission to the zoo, you should take an opportunity to check it out.

The USAF Academy doesn't open its gates until 9:00 and closes at 5:00. There are portions of the Academy that are restricted. You will most likely have your car searched at the gate.

I wasn't planning having them organized as to the time - the plan, if you can call it one, was to have you work out among yourselves where you would like to go and when. They all are very interesting excursions.

I'm also interested in the USAF Academy, I spent the night there on the Boy Scout trip to Philmont when I was a youngster. I think it was 1962. Anyway I'd like to tour it again.

But what time Monday morning? I am driving down from Denver so would be good info to have. :)

As to the base, you need to have current proof of reg and ins with address that matches drivers license. Got turned around once for that. But I move a lot.

Trevor and Nick can probably be some type of escort for all of us and sign in , since they both have their military cards. I will see what they can for
do for us. Okay ...just talk with Trevor and he said he will show his card and tell them he is escorting a group and then all you will need is your drivers lic. Trevor and I will make a run over there first to make sure.

James - that would be Wednesday and it would have to be after Calvin and Rob finished up with their dyno runs.

Sorry, we have two ideas going here at the same time.

1. Schedule for Monday. Start time?

2. AFB on Wednesday.

Monday - The drive to Hog Heaven through Woodland Park, Deckers, and Pine is about 2 hours depending on traffic through Ute Pass and critters on the highway. Lunch starts at 11:30 so an 8:30-9:00 start would be about right giving time for stopping along the way.

The meet booklet has directions, distances and estimated times for all the drives.

How about we let those that want to go to the Air Force Academy dyno first?

Carl - no problem, but what if everyone doing the dyno want to go the Academy? I think once we have everyone gathered together we can work out the logistics - maybe Tuesday evening.

Sure. Or, I could just drive all the cars & tell everyone how much horsepower they have. ;)

They will kick us out of the Academy at 5pm, though.
