E15, a great example of how to take a bad idea & make it worse.

You members in flyover country :) enjoying your new fuel?

Boycott this poison fuel.

Now I have to dump my cookies and clear my cach to cleanse my computer of the stench of that eco-nut site!
Please post a warning when linking to insipid stupidity!

Might be fun to watch Elon Musk ("In the future all vehicles will be electric") of Tesla go toe to toe with these alcohol zealots.

I have never seen E15. That link was just to show were it is available. Not sure why anyone would want it. The only good ethanol is moonshine!

This link is where ethanol-free gas is available. Put some in my Harley yesterday.

Here in Canada, they have to say on the pump if the fuel contains ethanol but only Shell or maybe Sunoco offer ethanol free gas but it's only available with their premium octane.

I have found that fuel containing 10% ethanol reduces fuel mileage by about 15%. Thus, adding ethanol to fuel increases the amount of crude oil used. It makes no sense… Luckily, where I live now there is one station in town with ethanol free regular and another with ethanol free 91.

That much, huh?

I use ethanol free 93 around here cause it is easy to find. When traveling, though, I wind up using E10. I don't think my mileage drops off that significantly, cause I got 26mpg traveling to & from the V8 Meet this year running 75-80mph.

I have read on 'net of reports saying 3-5%, then others that reported 6-10%. If you think that is bad. Edmunds did a test on E85 in a flex-fuel Chevy Tahoe on a San Diego to Las Vegas round trip. They got 26.5% worse mileage than on real gasoline. Gasoline has far more BTUs, why dilute it?

I believe it's a case of agriculture policy trumping smart energy or environmental policy. Too strong corn lobby! Having the nation's first presidential caucuses in Iowa every four years doesn't help.

Ethanol is bound to give carburetors more trouble than EFI. It can boil in your float bowls and percolate, etc.

On the plus side:

"Tuners" like ethanol (E85) because they can run a lot more turbo boost.

E10 does help reduce winter time smog in urban areas like Denver and LA. (It's not needed year round.)

Also, I expect running a bit of ethanol every so often is a good thing because it gets water (from condensation) out of your fuel tank.
