Re: Rally Insanity
Guess if everybody is driving that way it becomes the only way to win.
Come to think of it haven't rally drivers always driven that way? Jim |
Re: Rally Insanity
The fans are as crazy as the drivers!!
My favorite is where the car goes into what looks like a bunch of vines and keeps on going taking out power poles, the lines fall down and arc on the bushes. Cheers Byron |

Re: Rally Insanity
Carl, THANKS for posting
I really liked the one where the car slammed the wall corner, the guy standing there seemed unaware of how close his end was. I rode as nav. a couple time. Guess what, the nav. is looking at the route book most the time, talk about trust, Or insanity, the pump is off the charts. Always wanted to wear a heart monitor. Worked several Cherokee rallies close by, 128 miles on some of the most impossible roads. The Dragon is a cake walk. Once had one of the leaders left the route about 900 hundred feet up, his radio dispatch was heard to sound like "Is this ******* thing going to ever stop flipping. It did , 900 feet down in many parts. charles |

Re: Rally Insanity
Very reminiscent of the annual Targa Newfoundland - always someone ending up in the harbour , or worse. Here's one example

Re: Rally Insanity
There's usually at least one spectacular accident each year.
Here's a couple of photos from a crash in Marystown in 2009, a father/son team from New York. If the steel bulkhead had been cut off at ground level they would have ended up in 10+ feet of water in the harbour. I volunteeered with the Stage Operations Crew that year and am planning on returning in 2015. |
