Re: Fifth Annual BritishV8 Fall Gathering - Who's coming?
Our cars aren't the only music some of us like to hear!
Those who were at Indy a couple months ago will remember the impromptu jam session. If anyone's of a mind, bring your guitar/banjo/mandolin/fiddle/what-have-you and let's give it a go! I'll have my banjo and guitar. And on Friday night some may want to check out Rocky Branch Bluegrass: [www.youtube.com] Let me know! I hope to be there by 2-3ish on Thursday.
Looking for last minute accommodations at the Talley Ho? We still have room at the Big House/ Moor Manor/Moor Mansion if any one needs a cheap, clean bed. We'll even leave the light on for ya. ;) Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 09/28/2015 10:41AM by MGBV8. |

Re: Fifth Annual BritishV8 Fall Gathering - Who's coming?
Rick, The Weather Channel has a more optimistic forecast; 10% wet, but still cool. Maybe a bit dryer, but we'll have a great time.

Yep - forecasts are all over the place. Knoxville TV stations are calling for leftover isolated showers on Friday and lesser chances Saturday.

If anybody feels like a detour, one of the largest car shows in the eastern US is this weekend:

Re: Fifth Annual BritishV8 Fall Gathering - Who's coming?
The weather forecast is more iffy than usual, even for us.
"Tropical Storm Joaquin is churning over the western Atlantic Ocean, and residents along the East Coast of the U.S. should pay close attention to the forecast this week. It's a particularly difficult forecast that hinges on the behavior of several different atmospheric features over North America and the North Atlantic Ocean. Computer forecast models (see graphic below) – and the meteorologists who rely on them for guidance – are grappling with a complex interaction between Joaquin, a cold front near the East Coast, the remnants of Tropical Storm Ida, a strong bubble of high pressure aloft over the North Atlantic Ocean, and a potentially strong area of low pressure aloft digging into the southeastern U.S. later this week." |

Re: Fifth Annual BritishV8 Fall Gathering - Who's coming?
I would love to join everyone in Townsend, whatever the weather, but I just came back from a 10 day trip exploring the mountain roads in that area.
When I stopped at Deals Gap, I bought a new map called 100 Great Motorcycle Rides in the Smoky Mountains. Good map: May I suggest, for anyone who likes narrow, twisty windy roads, when travelling between Deals Gap and Townsend, rather than taking the Foothills Parkway, you can go through Happy Valley. I would strongly recomend driving Butterfly Gap Road from Happy Valley out towards US #321. It's on that map or review it on google maps but basically, it's: Happy Valley Rd, just before Murray Gap, right on Flats Rd. past Lake in the Sky, take Butterfly Gap Rd. and Butterly Gap Loop. Return to US #321 via Laws Chapel Rd. and Rocky Branch Rd. Have fun. Ken |
