BritishV8 2010 is just around the corner!
The Three Stooges made another site visit to Indy yesterday....everyone we talked to was excited to have us in town.
Our stop at the Clarion was great...in fact, the annual gathering of the "Road Rockets" car club was just beginning their weekend in Indy...we saw a lot of great hot rods and rat rods...and found one MGB V6 converted "rat rod" in the parking lot...and found it belongs to Steve Kimball....we talked with Steve....and he is ALREADY registered for our event as well! Steve is making a tour of midwest car shows...Road Rockets and British V8 are just two of many....Steve drove in from New Mexico. A quick stop at ORP (IRP) found Mike ready to have us on the road course and the autocross tarmac on Thursday. A call to Hooters on 38th street also found them anxiously awaiting our visit that evening. (We may even have a surprise or two for you!) FasTimes Indoor Karting is also ready for us on Friday. We currently have 35 enthusiasts signed up for our karting experience in Indy. A reminder that lunch will be provided for kart DRIVERS...and a lunch/drink counter is available for spectators at FasTimes. Friday evening will find us having a mini car display at the Union Jack Pub, which is a VERY short drive from the hotel. We have reserved parking and an outdoor deck, as well as indoor seating available to us. The manager will be having British ale specials (Boddingtons and Bass, etc)....but wait....there's more......the Jaegermeister Girls will be at the pub that night as well! Saturday we will visit the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Museum in the morning, then over to a prototype development machine shoppe near the airport where we'll have a light lunch with some fellow Lotus Super Seven replica owners before heading back to the hotel for tech sessions in the parking lot. We will also be having some special guests at the hotel that I'm sure will be popular for photo opportunities. :) So be sure to arrive on Wednesday (we'll be having pizza and beer/pop in the Clarion parking lot that evening courtesy of FastCars, Inc and Advance Autowire)..... Be ready for an enjoyable, informational, entertaining, and memorable four daze in Indianapolis for BritishV8 2010! |

OK, so who else in in a last minute thrash?
In mid-May the Spitfire got hungy and ate the 3.75:1 ring and pinion for a midnight snack (see auction items for photos). I was unable to work on it till after my daughters graduation party, but I finally got my spare 3.07:1 installed last week. (Much easier to control the drifting with the 3.07:1.) I still need to get the new pads and rotors installed & bedded in and then finish the rocker panel flares to get her in proper shape for the meet. I wanted to get the roll bar in, but that will have to wait till winter. I am looking forward to the track day, never done that before. Being a track rookie and not pushing it hard because of not having the roll bar (I'll bring the hardtop), I hope I don't get in anybody's way out there. Does anyone bring autocross or track tires, or does everyone just run street tires? I can't remember the last time I looked forward to an event this much. |

Re: BritishV8 2010 is just around the corner!
Most just run street tires. Carl and his almost slick DOT legal race tires says he can't make it and my Midget on it's Yokahama A048s isn't going to bother anyone for sure. I'm another rookie on the track as well. Consider myself a rolling chicane at best. I won't be driving too hard on the track or the autocross, that car still has to get me back home to KC, can't break it.

And....this time next week we'll be at the Union Jack Pub, having another car display, enjoying a great meal and some good British potables....and swapping lies about our karting experience at FasTimes Indoor Karting!

This time next week, BritishV8 2010 will (hopefully) be a fond memory for all of us as we make the trek home.
