"A Trip Around Le Mans 1956" is a five-minute video of the late Mike Hawthorn commentating while driving a Jaguar D-type around the famous Le Mans circuit in France.

I had a drive round the public road sections back in September 2010 on my way to the historic rampart races in Angouleme. Public road still accounts for over half the track. Much of it still looks very similar. I couldn't believe my ears when my 18 year old son said the surface feels much bumpier at 200mph on a play station.

What an incredible video. 175 mph on an open road with bikes, lorries and motorcycles coming in the opposite direction! How times have changed. Thanks for posting.
