This eleven day adventure incorporates NAMGBR’s MG2012 event in Dillard, Georgia. The unique format of the Tour will both precede and follow MG2012 and take MG enthusiasts on a scenic 1600 mile adventure across some of North America’s most scenic roads.

Following up on year’s amazing RALLYE TO RENO multi-day, multi-state drive is this year’s 2012 NC Border Tour that will circumnavigate the beautiful state of North Carolina on our way to and from NAMGBR’s MG2012 in Dillard, Georgia. This event is already generating considerable excitement and MOSS Motors, CLASSIC MG Magazine and Hendrix Wire Wheel have already provided us with sponsorship funds that will help us keep the event very affordable.

The 2012 NC Border Tour will begin on Monday, June 4th just outside Raleigh, the state capitol, and drive through Andy Griffith’s hometown of Mt. Airy before spending the first night in Dobson where we will visit North Carolina’s largest winery, Shelton Vineyards. We will begin day two by joining the Blue Ridge Parkway with a lunch stop in scenic Blowing Rock and then continuing on to Asheville past Grandfather Mountain, Little Switzerland and Mt. Mitchell. Day three will have us continuing on the parkway to its end in Cherokee where we’ll pick up The Great Smoky Mountain Expressway (Highway 19/74) through the Nantahala River Gorge and on to Murphy, the state’s westernmost city. After lunch we’ll turn east and head to Dillard, Georgia, the site of NAMGBR’s MG2012 event which will take us to Sunday morning when we’ll continue our Tour to scenic Chimney Rock, the sight of the historic Chimney Rock Hillclimbs, and Lake Lure where the movie Dirty dancing was filmed. Monday we head to Charlotte and lunch at Charlotte Motor Speedway and a visit to the Hendrick Motorsports complex before moving to Pinehurst, America’s First Home of Golf. Tuesday we continue east to Wilmington and lunch on the Cape Fear River overlooking the historic battleship, USS North Carolina. We’ll finish the day in New Bern, the state’s first capitol and the sight of famous Tryon Palace. On Wednesday we’ll circle around scenic Pamlico Sound ending up in Manteo, home of the outdoor drama, The Lost Colony, and nearby Kitty Hawk, the site of America’s first powered flight.

If this eleven day adventure sounds intriguing, or possibly just a part on your way to or from MG2012, download the Registration Form. The fee to join is only $30 and each car will receive a commemorative rallye plate and plenty of
