This must be the "ladies' V-8" forum. I had the pleasure of visiting Omaha with Bill Young to look at the track there and scout hotels, food, and other activities for the June 2013 meet. Lots to do there- food, shopping, gambling, food---and a very cool indoor go-cart track with speeds up to 45 mph. Bill suggested I may have thought we were planning a girl trip--- not true!! Omaha seems to be a pretty cool place to visit.

What a nice surprise... Welcome to the message board, Jenny!

Yes, I received a suggestion for adding some sort of "women's forum" and I'm trying to figure out how best to accommodate... Further suggestions or more elaboration on the original idea would be most welcome.

To be successful, any sort of social media must keep its users returning with sufficient frequency. I'm investigating the idea of leveraging "permissions" and "e-mail notification" message board features. The idea is that when someone specially subscribes as a "spouse" they get (a) permission to post messages in the spouse's social section and (b) they get automatic e-mail notifications each time someone posts in that section.

I've checked the "Allow Email Notification" box for this here pub section, so we can see if that feature of the message board software works properly.

You should see the words "Send replies to this thread to me via email" next to a check-box below (just above the box where you compose your posts.) Why not give it a try! Let me know if it seems to work properly for you.

So if it's working, Rob should get an e-mail after I click "Post Message".

Looks like it worked. I got the following email... A couple of other boards I use have the same feature but Include the author and post text in the mail. I think I'm more likely to go to the thread with that info. One of the boards also has the 'follow' option on as the default - so you don't have to remember to check the box. I prefer that approach too.
