The Lumberjack update!
I know that I told many of you in Omaha about my health concerns, but for those that couldn't be there I just wanted to bring everyone up to date. Last month after a CAT scan revealed a mass on my pancreas I had to consider that I might not have as long a life as I had hoped. Things are looking somewhat better now, had a biopsy last week that only showed "atypical" cells, was not definite for cancer. Didn't rule it out totally though. Had a blood test yesterday that might confirm. Either way the doctors say that I am a candidate for surgery which really improves my odds. Have that scheduled for July 9 and after that at least 2 to 3 months of recouperation before I can resume my normal activities, so my projects will have to go on hold for a while. I'll be back though around later September or October and ready to finish the build on the TD. I'll still be able to give the Roadmaster winter storage and help get it out west in the spring as well. You guys aren't getting rid of me too easily, I'll definitely be in Colorado next year with the TD and ready for some mountain driving and some Bass. Of course I'll keep the trusty lap top with me even in the hospital so keep me in the loop, I'll need something to pass the time for a while.

Re: The Lumberjack update!
Bill, Thats really great news.
BTW - How about Old Specked Hen instead of Bass? I found a local source. Are you going to need Carl's sign for the back of the TD :-) Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 06/25/2013 03:25PM by lars49. |

Awesome news Bill. If you ever decide you need to go to MD Anderson here in Houston (one of the world's top cancer centers), we have an extra room.

Bill,
Best news I've heard in a long, long time. Thanks for sharing the problem and now the good news ! I know little about recovery time from a biopsy - but I hope you might be up to some seat time in the Rover MG GT2 car at HPT maybe later in the summer. cheers, phillip g |

Re: The Lumberjack update!
Bill, you're in my prayers as I know the feeling too well. I'm fighting cancer myself (twice) and this is mostly why I never finished my MGB; maybe one day I'll make it to one of those crazy and fun gathering (I would like the Tail Of The Dragon) but that's in the hands of the lord. I think about selling my projects at times, but I keep reminding myself about how comfortable the MGB is to ride compared to my Miata V8; it's all about leg room.
Hang in there, everyone in this forum is wishing you well. Jacques |
