Pop-ups?

You should NEVER see a pop-up or pop-under ad on BritishV8!

This website gets a little bit of advertising revenue from Google banner ads - but those ads are supposed to fit within an 800 pixel wide by 120 pixel tall container that I've hard-coded into specific parts of the page (e.g. between message board posts).

So... if you DO see a pop-up ad or pop-under ad and you think it's coming from BritishV8, please let me know about it. I've heard exactly one complaint, and I'm trying to troubleshoot it. My thinking is that the ad was probably installed by some other website earlier in the day, but didn't "pop" until our member got here.

It's the "Ad Choices" Chevy banner ad that is doing it. The center panel has a band that says "Rollover (something or other) and when your cursor rolls over the band it pops up the ad video which then takes over your computer and you can't turn it off without navigating away from the page. Very objectionable in my opinion.

Ad Choices doesn't do it for me. Using Firefox, btw.

This is a cool way to eliminate rollover popups.

Okay. I'm happy to tell Google Adsense to block the offending Chevy ad.

To do so, I need to know what URL (i.e. web address) the ad links to. From the Adsense site:

Quote:
Use this page to block ads leading to specific URLs from appearing on your site by entering URLs in the box below.
Enter the display URL shown on the ad or the destination URL to block new and existing ads.

PLEASE let me know what URL the Chevy ads are linking to. I haven't been seeing the Chevy ads on my screen, but that's probably because Google shows different ads to different people.

(I'm already blocking eBay's ads from this website. They irritate me.)
