Rendezvous 2014 ?

Well, the time is at hand, but a few questions remain. Due to the LONG distance from points East and the Void between KC and Colorado Springs: do any of you have a suggestion for the final overnight stop? several people will make it a 2 day trip, but the logistics of gathering the group for 2 nights is overwhelming. If you use Colorado Springs as the center and draw a circle within 150 miles, there is no medium sized city near I-70 where we could gather. NOTE: I plan to fly into Co. Spgs. since I am a Wuss :-). Does any of our bunch have some positive suggestions, or should we punt and wait for 2015? I will agree to assist, but unless a suitable location can be determined, there seems to be a large void west of THE RIVER. Note #2 this is I-70. Not much we can do to help the crowd heading east.

Having made the trip across I-70 to PA more times than I care to count, I can offer a few suggestions but the 150 mile circle is probably not reasonable. Coming from the east the towns with more than just rudimentary accommodations are are: Lawrence, Topeka, Junction City, Salina, Hays, and Colby. Once into Colorado you have Limon which is about 70 miles from Colo. Spgs. via US-24 which is the way I come.

The speed limit on I-70 through much of CO is 75 and IIRC Kansas has raised the speed limit to 75 once you are west of Topeka.

The western part of CO has more lodging because of the various resorts.

Hays Kansas is probably where I'd stop. That's about 320 miles from Colorado Springs. Here's a brewpub I can recommend there: [www.lbbrewing.com]

Thanks guy, Hays was my initial choice also. Limon seems to be stretching the 2nd day a bit. Our drive from my home in southern middle Tn. was a bit long to St Joe. What do others says? Never mind Denver, it is off the trail :-)

This proposed event has been deferred to 2015 due to lack of interest.

Wait till it's closer. Your looking at 7 months away at this point.

Kelly...don't be disappointed.....I've been REALLY busy, but have given some thought to your proposal.

I think two stops would be best...one on the near west side of St.Louis...the other in Hays (I, too, have overnighted there several times on my way west (or returning east) from MG events.

The first stop on the west side of St.Louis would be fairly handy for those east of the Mississippi to hit...and being on the west side of the city would help in avoiding morning rush hour traffic. We would need to look at a map to see which suburb would be most convenient. I'm thinking maybe O'Fallon.

The second stop (Hays) is about 480 miles from O'Fallon. Several hotels just off of I-70 (we last stayed at a Ramada)...and as Curtis says, some good eateries available. (We personally like a small local pub/billiard joint about 2 miles off of the interstate)

Colorado Springs is about 330 miles from Hays. An easy day's journey.

Folks could gather at O'Fallon....and/or in Hays.

I'll work with Streets and Trips a little more.

As Larry says, the meet is still 7 months out and most of us haven't really given much thought to our conversions....easpecially those of us who have been dealing with Mother Nature's wintery blanket.
