Movie "Rush"

Mike Perkins reported on the Race Cars and Motorsports thread that some Rover V8 engines were used in the making of this film.

A bit more info here:

Quote:
The film features a fabulous array of real cars, with two McLaren M23s, two Ferraris (312T and 312T2), two Lotus 77s and two six-wheel Tyrrells—converted from 1977-spec to 1976 with replica bodywork—among the star performers. Most other marques of the era were also represented by at least one example.

The producers could not source some key cars, so Howard's team commissioned Ligier-Matra and Brabham-Alfa replicas with Rover V8 engines. Two 1973 BRM P160s were created for early scenes depicting Niki Lauda's spell with the team.

It's a very good film!

IMHO, Daniel Brühl should have been nominated for a "Best Actor" Oscar for his portrayal of Niki Lauda.

A couple of my fellow car nut buddies saw this movie 3/4 times when it was in the theaters and raved about it....unfortunately I was not able to see it then....I rented the movie a few nights ago..... I think this is a solid movie with a ggod/true plot but frankly was not that impressed...perhaps if I had seen it in the theater it would have been more impressive...it was certainly better that "LeMans" as it actually had a plot :-) my favorite is Frankenhiemers "Grand Prix"...I still wake up in the middle of the night with goosebumps thinking about that opening scene with the exhausts blaring and rolling the car out of the trailer.........

What?! Such sacrilege!

It was a race documentary. Didn't need a plot, had Steve McQueen.
