Re: Let's Win Moss Motors' 2014 Club Spirit Award
Merv Hagen snapped this Teller County picture for us along the road to Hog Heaven: We paused to take a photo for the "skyscraper" category along our way back to the BV8 host hotel from the Clive Cussler Car Collection. (We'd already collected a skyscraper pic, but this view is more dramatic.) We collected Douglas County on our way to the BritishV8 Meet on Sunday. More here. Now lets see some of your Challenge pictures! |
Re: Let's Win Moss Motors' 2014 Club Spirit Award
That looks like a lot of fun. These days, the only pics of my cars in a barn would be them sitting in storage while I'm doing family/house/work stuff. I'm enjoying life but there sure isn't any car time. It's only depressing at times.

Re: Let's Win Moss Motors' 2014 Club Spirit Award
I expect we've all been there, Ryan. This year I'm trying to make up for lost time.
We didn't have to drive far this morning to score our 88th point: 44th Annual ColoRODans Car Show in Longmont Colorado ~400 rods were shown, but I had the only British car and the only BOPR aluminum V8. Moss Motoring Challenge points are awarded for up to ten car shows. I need five more. |

I agree! Most photos are worth one point each, but a handful are worth two. "Parade" is one of them... We collected this "Destination: Parade" snapshot this morning: This is an alternate... It could count as a "parade" photo or a "firetruck" photo, but we probably won't end up using it. Calvin, when are you guys going to start taking your Challenge photos? |

Curtis,
I've been looking for a duck crossing sign too. Can you share with us where you found yours? |

Ken, next time in Memphis Tn. ck out the Peabody Hotel. They have a daily duck parade called "The walk of the Ducks" where they ride down from the roof to the hotel Lobby and bask in the pool until they ride back up the the PM.

Kelly,
I don't know how I missed that duck crossing in Memphis. See what a little too much Jack Daniel's can do: Legend of The Peabody Ducks The men had a little too much Jack Daniel's Tennessee sippin' whiskey, and thought it would be funny to place some of their live duck decoys (it was legal then for hunters to use live decoys) in the beautiful Peabody fountain. Re: Let's Win Moss Motors' 2014 Club Spirit Award
Those are AWESOME, Phil!!! (I especially like your green t-shirt.)
I don't know if you got an e-mail from Moss this week, but they clarified that they're giving two bonus points for "roadside oddity" photos. I should think your giant violin photo will certainly qualify. (Make a mark in the "bonus 2" space at the bottom, righthand corner of the entry form.) Well done! === Ken, we found that first duck crossing sign on private property. I have no doubt Moss would accept the photo, but Lisa and I weren't really satisfied with it. We figured we'd take the snapshot, and replace it later if a better opportunity came along. Duck crossing signs are very scarce in Colorado. I tracked down THE sign guy at Colorado Department of Transportation at the beginning of the summer and he told me the STATE has never put one up. He didn't know of a town or county that had either. But then, this week I got a tip via e-mail from our new friend Carey Dietz whom we met last weekend at the Westminster Brewing car show. (Carey brought a remarkable '58 Packard Hawk!) Carey noticed a duck crossing sign in his travels this week, and told me where to find it. So here it is: Ducks Crossing: We also got our Horse Track sign today. We'd never been to the track before, but we had a great time watching the races! Today was the last day of the season here in Colorado so we'll have to wait until next summer to go again. Re: Let's Win Moss Motors' 2014 Club Spirit Award
Out for quick drive today and collected another sign........Dead End or as they're sometimes called here, a Cul-de-Sac. New Brunswick is an officially bilingual province(French & English) so many of the highway signs are often symbols, as seen in the green replacement sign replacement for Dead End/Cul-de-Sac.
There's another Dead End in my neighbourhood, Dead End Auto Body. Here's a pic of their mailbox. |

Phil, it's great to see your car out and about!
Our niece has arrived back in Colorado now, ready to start her second year at C.U.-Boulder. Isn't she adorable! I hope she puts this snapshot on her Facebook page. (Participants may collect Motoring Challenge points for the first five National Forests they visit. This is our fifth!) |

Re: Let's Win Moss Motors' 2014 Club Spirit Award
Went for a short drive (an hour or two) this morning and followed the Saint John River before heading home before the humidity got too bad. Collected two photos right near our home: the fire station about a half mile away and a neat real estate development sign about a quarter mile away. Someone in the company has excellent tastes!
Anyone other than PJ and Curtis doing the Moss Challenge? |

Re: Let's Win Moss Motors' 2014 Club Spirit Award
Anyone? Ken? Rob? Someone? There's still time, but you should start soon.
Phil, that MGB sign is VERY VERY cool. I picked up another easy car show point this morning at "Mile High Harley-Davidson". It wouldn't ordinarily brag on it... but it's our 100th point to date! (It's my first solo point because Lisa is with her mom in Canada this week. She'll be back soon.) About fifty cars showed up at today' show, including IMHO some particularly cleverly constructed rat rods. Clever... but still, such ugly welds! And their steering linkages looked dangerous. Anyhow, I especially enjoyed talking to a guy who's pretty close to done building a fiberglass '37 Ford (just needs upholstery and paint) and another guy who's putting an Olds Toronado front-wheel-drive front end and big block behind a stretched VW Beetle. Incidentally, the "car" next to mine in this snapshot is a BBC tricycle. Scary! |
