I don't know about THAT, but I'd be happy to get a photo and a few words in Moss Motoring magazine. One point I'm trying to make is that our engine swaps (V8, V6, or whatever) usually don't compromise reliability or anything else - if anything, they make our cars even better for this sort of adventure! "what is the secret to enabling email replies in a thread?" Do you see a little box with the words "Send replies to this thread to me via email" just above the message entry/editing panel? You should be able to check that box by clicking on it. I'm not sure how I've got that set-up. I thought it was only available to the guy who starts the thread, but now I see it in all threads. (Am I the only one seeing it?) Phil wrote: "You're racking up some serious miles..." 3600 as of today, and I'm still a long way from home. It seems stupid when I think about it, but I'm really enjoying it. Phil, those photos look GREAT! Keep posting them. ======== Here are some new photos from around where I grew up: Our fourth of five allowed National Park points Whitewater on the Potomac, near DC. Also a favorite with DC area rock climbers. F-County: Fairfax Virginia Riverbend is a Fairfax County Park adjacent to Great Falls National Park. Lots of memories here! Our ninth of ten allowed Car Show points I understand "Katie's Cars and Coffee" in Great Falls Virginia is one of the biggest and best attended on the east coast. It's held every Saturday morning through the warm months. My buddy Donnie and I arrived in the dark, and it was already going strong. Q-town: Quantico Virginia (in the rain with sisters Valerie and Ellen, and with Valerie's dog Kyrie) (Quantico is a civilian town, but the ONLY way to drive to it is through a U.S. Marine base after stopping at a guard station to show credentials.) |

You have now probably exceeded the number of miles per year that the Colorado House bill House Bill 13-1071 [aircarecolorado.com] allows for cars with collector plates and will be required to get your car hauled back on a flat bed. :-) I so do love those folks in Denver. Yes Curtis I find the radar detector signs in conflict with the welcome sign and the old VA is for lovers slogan. And they confiscate quite a few devices.
You are proving the reliability but are still a little behind Glen Towery, no there is a guy with some miles under his belt. Hope you can exceed the 200 point mark, it would be nice to get a $1000.00 gift card!! Maybe you can be enthusiast of the year for NAMGBR |

I have a goal in mind, but it's not that high. Has anyone posted that many photos somewhere? Maybe they're bluffing. All our Challenge photos to date can be reviewed here. Here are today's snapshots: Our fifth of five National Parks, with my nephew Garrett: Is this the next Agent 007 getting out of his “Poor Man’s Aston Martin”? Moss Motor's warehouse in Petersburg Virginia, with my niece Ellie: "Hope" - the Drive Away Cancer Miata, with Ellie and Moss' supremely helpful Matt Stark: As this Miata travels around the country, people write on it the names of friends and loved ones who currently live with or have previously battled cancer. There's also a Drive Away Cancer Austin-Healey, which we hope to meet up with later. We took a moment today to remember some friends lost to cancer: |

Re: Let's Win Moss Motors' 2014 Club Spirit Award
Yes, the Miata is named "Hope". I believe the Austin Healey named "Grace" is currently at Hendrix Wire Wheel on Lee Street in Greensboro.
My itinerary isn't finalized, but I expect I'll be rushing to get down to Southern Pines for dinner Friday evening with my aunt and uncle. I plan to stop in Vance County on my way into North Carolina, and if time permits I might possibly dip very briefly into Greensboro on Friday afternoon to see if I can get a photo of Grace, even though I don't need one for points (since I photographed Hope already). I love Greensboro, and look for any reason to visit however briefly. On Saturday I plan to visit Statesville to find an Iredell County sign before heading South and homeward. I'll be driving right through Lexington - and you know what that town is famous for! PJ, maybe you and I could meet-up for a late lunch on Saturday? I'd enjoy that very much! One more thought... Saturday might be my last best chance to find a Charity Car Wash. Tips? |

Nothing in Statesville. Come on down to Dillard, GA Saturday for the Southeast British Car Festival brought to you by the Peachtree MG Registry. Several of us will be there. Charles & Perky Long and myself. Mike Cook was there two years ago. Cozy little N.GA mountain town just across the GA/TN border. Awesome Venue! Two years ago they hosted the NAMGBR National Meet. This year is the Peachtree MG Registry's bi-annual event & a NAMGAR Regional Event. [www.namgar.com] |

That Dillard meet sounds like a great time. However, I've committed to meeting a friend's plane at Charlotte-Douglas airport Saturday afternoon. I'll stay with his family that night, and then head briskly off to Colorado. Carl I bet you could easily score 15 Motoring Challenge points between your house and that meet. You ought to try it. Big fun!
PJ: pm sent, and I'll phone when I'm closer. I appreciate that pic more and more. Bryan really gets around, but our schedules haven't lined up yet and apparently they won't this coming week either. |

I paid attention as I passed through this morning. A couple nice, older, brick homes can be seen to the west of the interstate.. |

Re: Let's Win Moss Motors' 2014 Club Spirit Award
Had a GREAT visit with PJ tonight - and here's a snapshot for my Favorites folder!
Scratch these off the list too: Z-Town: Zebulon, North Carolina - "The Town of Friendly People" That's Rick Hardin, Zebulon's very friendly Town Manager. The front side of the Town Hall building is far more handsome, but I took this photo of the back door before seeing the front. I'm pleased with this photo because it documents my brief meeting with Rick. V-County: Vance, North Carolina This attractive new farmer's market is in Henderson, the county seat of Vance County. State: North Carolina "Cheese!" |

Re: Let's Win Moss Motors' 2014 Club Spirit Award
Two more today!
"I-County: Iredell, North Carolina" North of Charlotte. Statesville is the county seat. "Destination: Charity Car Wash" Here, I'm shaking hands with Dale Pilson, owner of "Champions of Hope". One hundred percent of his car wash's profits go to the aid of homeless children in India. |

Today's "Sunday Drive"
(with Allen and Pam, a very sweet couple I met at the Georgia Welcome Center) (incidentally, that's cotton growing in the background!) and I'm especially excited about this one: |

Today's Haul:
Q-County: Quitman County, Mississippi (A State Trooper pulled over to ask me what I was doing. Perfect! I needed his headlights. I set up the tripod. He seemed tickled to push the button for me!) |
