Britsh V8 2014 - Autocross Sunday Morning
Posted by: lars49

Al Wulf sent me this.

The Colorado Springs Corvette Club is having the Heat Rash Low-Speed Autocross on Sunday, July 20th. There are two autocrosses that day, one at 9:30AM and another in the afternoon after lunch. The cost is $35.00 each or $65.00 for both. I talked to the morning autocross chairman, Tom Ury, tonight and they would love to have more people than just their club autocross. He said they would like have some "metal cars" run.

All the information on the Colorado Springs Corvette Club Heat Rash Flyer

The autocross is in the west VIP parking lot at PPIR. People coming to the V8 meet could get there a little earlier and autocross before they check into the hotel.

For those who aren't familiar, PPIR is "Pikes Peak International Raceway". It's a paved oval track with a modest infield road circuit. Not too far from our host hotel. You can get a feel for the venue here.

===

If you're coming into Colorado on Saturday, you might want to consider attending this car show: [outrockcarshow.com] It should be a pretty good one. It will run from 3-7pm, it's free to attend, free to exhibit, and it wraps up with a free concert. ("Doctor Fine plays rock and roll hits from the 50s to the 80s!")

I will be in Colorado (Grand Junction) by Friday evening. So I will probably attend to have a little fun with the Corvettes on Sunday! Anyone game to play?

This will be fun. Here in the wonderful California, the Corvette clubs will not let me run with them. They told me it was because of their insurance. I said I would sign a waiver, and still NO.

I just spoke to Rik, one of the Heat Rash Low-Speed Autocross organizers and to participate in either the morning or the afternoon sessions, you have to go through tech which is only from 7:30 - 8:30 am. .Miss that and you'll be a spectator.

Thanks Ken for that information. I guess I will be there in the morning early along with you :-)

If you do online sign up, use Metal for class. Online closes the 17th.

I can't get there before late Sunday afternoon. The British V8'ers will be well represented by Ken & Calvin. Spank a few Corvettes for me!

I found the posted results and a photo gallery of the Heat Rash event.

Photos:
(go to "Photo Albums/Past Events on left hand side then select 2014 Heat Rash Autocross)

Final raw time results:

For some reason they put Calvin in Metal class and myself in LMetal class.

Ken,

If you paid the 15 bucks for the trophy, you would have had the first place LMETAL :-)

Calvin,
Do you know what the "L" in the LMETAL class name stands for?

They put you in that class by mistake.

Ladies is correct. Now do I really want a trophy in my trophy case saying I was the "fastest lady". It would go at the back if I did.
(not to say there aren't some fast women out there, eg. Courtney Force)

Ha. I thought it was for "Limey" because of your LBC. So, they thought you drove like a lady, eh? :)

Ah Ken....What a missed opportunity to have had a first place ladies trophy for Katie. She could have bragged big on this one for kicking the plastic Vetts.

This is what the trophy would have looked like.

Sorry for the android phone photos.....
