So it has been a little over 2 months since our gathering in Colorado and today in the mail I received a notice from LicensePlateToll.
I had no idea what this place was, so I called the indicated phone# and the sweet lady that answered asked me "were you driving your Beautiful blue Jaguar XKE" in Denver by the airport on 07/24/2014".
Of course I had and this was the 1st time that I realized that my ILL toll way I pass did not work in Colorado.
So I went online and paid my $3.40 fine, and was surprised that they seemed to have all of the information about me except for perhaps the last time I had sex.
Even more surprising is that I can not read my License plate# unless I kneel down because it is hidden by my rear bumper, so I guess that Colorado's Toll Way cameras really are good.

I guess that BIG BROTHER really is OUT THERE.

Big Brother really is Watching....Different situation but I have received three speeding tickets over the last few years from plate reading technology...never points assigned...never on my record...always in my mg....hmmmmmm....bottom line, the police department works for the populace, us, and we pay them to PROTECT us..I do not remember telling anyone it was ok to snap pictures of my license plate..do any of you?

wow
spooky that they have so much info from a plate that is that hard to read
at least the fine as pretty cheap

I keep my real NC plate under the seat as I display a legal YOM plate that reads " MG V6"
I wonder if they could ID me?

I'm surprised that you got off for only $3.40, Merv.

I got tagged rescuing the Roadmaster two years ago.

I have been told you can ask to face your accuser, and since it is not a person you win. Don't know that I would try it though.

It's a worrisome trend. I was awarded a driving-in-a-bus-lane ticket last year in England. The Oxford police sent it to the rental car company, who paid it without dispute. That company charged my credit card, so all I got in the mail was an unexpected credit card receipt. If it weren't already paid, I might have tried to dispute it. I believe I only passed through that lane while turning... and IMHO it's very rude to treat an out-of-town visitor / tourist so gruffly. A real cop would surely have let it slide. (My message to you: "Boycott Oxford!")

As for license-plate toll bills, I just got one from Massachusetts so I guess my MG's plate is readable too.

By the way: I've just uploaded a slideshow of BritishV8 2014 photos to here.

I received a Chicago Toll System ticket for non-payment of toll. The fine was almost $70.

They included a picture of my truck and license tag.

The kicker was...it was a Ford Econoline van with a license number 200 off from my number.

I got it straightened out with a 60 minute phone call.

While I was on hold....I did an online search of the tickets for the tag in the picture....this guy is going to pay out the nose if/when they ever catch him. He had over six of these non-payment of toll tickets on file int he past year.

My photo radar ticket was unfortunately taken at the beginning of a construction zone (I wasn't even to the barrels yet...I was in the one-mile section prior to the barrels.)

It was a mandatory court appearance....of which I had two...the first to advise me of the charge and asking if I wanted to contest. The second was my actual hearing...which my attorney was able to settle out of court with the local District Attorney. (I say local, but I was in a courthouse 60 miles south of my home in a different county)

The charge was reduced to an "equipment violation"...similar to driving with a headlight out....but the fine was the same. All they wanted was their money.

My ticket, court costs, attorney fees, and time off from work/gas expense for two court appearances was close to $1800.

Merry Christmas to me.

Edith got a photo ticket from Florida. The photo showed her sitting in the back seat. Because it was a rental car they doubled the fine.

and Rick was helping a friend, Me, at the time of the expensive violation. I was stuck in the RM having made it most of the way from Rob's near Houston TX to Rick;s, my final destination when we lost all spark, So good guy that he is, Riki rented a trailer and drove an hour or more south to fetch me from the state of powerlessness that I found myself in, And even after the speeding in a construction zone he was still upbeat we he arrived to rescue he was still upbeat. RiKI is a good and GEREROUS MAN ALL I CAN DO IS SAY THANKS AGAIN to all who helped get the car from one place to another.

On another subject I like to offer to show RM at amelia Islaind in March, I would ask for help from anyone plann ing to attend to help me get the RM detailed and try to auction it for $20-25,000
The event is in March 2015

Two questions, and you guys can do whatever you want to with the RM with my blessing:

1) Do we really want to auction the car?

2) When determining what it is worth, shouldn't it be compared to other IRS cars rather than to the average conversion? There are a number of those out there. Granted you rarely see one for sale (almost never?) and doesn't that by itself tell us something? What is the average selling price for an IRS MGB-GT conversion? (Disregarding the 455 big block)

I realize that lots of you guys feel like I over-value the car because of the amount of work I put into it. I assure you that is not the case because if it was I'd want the car to sell in the $75-$100K range and it just isn't that good. I just would hate to see the organization get less for it than they deserve, and see no very good reason to get in too big of a hurry about selling it. But as a point of fact it would not effect me whether it sold for a penny or a million.

Other considerations:
Obviously I would prefer to see a private sale where the car is actually seen from time to time rather than just sitting in a garage somewhere, or taken out and beat to crap by some kid. Or get shipped to the middle east.

The provenance of the car has value. How much that is worth in dollars is hard to say, but I'd just hate for us to never see it again once it is gone.
