Happy New Year to all!

Question: Is anyone registering with the GOF Central, which runs concurrent with British V8 2015, so you can do the Indy 500 track experience?

Bill

Sandy and I will be at V8 2015 driving the Faux-ari...

As i understand it... In addition to the drive around the Indy Track... I believe there will be an airshow to attend... as well as their usual fun runs. I also think the 500 drive is open to only the first 100 entries to GOF but that needs to be fact checked.

We'll be over there to see a bunch of our Pre-war MG (NAMMMR) friends who will also be attending GOF.

Indy should be hopping with LBCs all week!

After I registered, it showed 28 spots left for the track drive-around.

See you in Indy!

Indy is a very hard town in which to coordinate car-related events. Most of the weekends available during the summer were booked well over a year ago (We got booked about a year ago.) We compete with several racing events held at IMS (Indy 500, Brickyard 400, Indy Grand Prix, motorcycle racing, etc) in addition to street rod shows, etc, held in the area and at O'Reilly Raceway Park.

We were unaware of GoF Central being held on the north end when we blocked our hotel; had we known, we would have probably chosen a different weekend to hold BritishV8 2015 if at all possible.

I hope you guys will be registering for BritishV8 as your primary event and will be using our hotel. I'm working on the registration form..

Two important things to remember about IMS.....events such as ours or GoF Central can be bumped if a race team, tire manufacturer, or larger venue wishes to rent the facility ....realize, too, that the lap on the oval of the IMS will be at parade lap speed. They typically run radar and will reprimand violators. Those of you who attended Indy 96 will remember the 35mph speed limit that was enforced. (See photo #2)

These three photos were taken of my MGC on the Formula One track in September 2000 (the year that Formula One returned to the United States and began a seven year run at IMS)

Indy Turn 13 - Radar.jpg

Front Stretch.jpg

Indy Turn 3.jpg

Don't get me wrong...it is truly an experience to drive on either the oval or the road course at IMS (I've driven both the oval and the road course at parade lap speeds)....but your speeds are NOT going be those we've experienced at other tracks (Road America, Virginia International, Sebring, etc).

We have BritishV8 2015 arrivals on Wednesday, July 15th...with activities beginning on Thursday. (Plan on something happening in the parking lot on Wednesday evening, though!) A professional tech session on auto detailing; a visit to Ray Skillman Collector Car Showroom; a visit to the Dalarra Indy Car Chassis Factory, a trip to downtown Indy (motorcoach provided) for an evening of food, beverage, and fun; an evening at the Union Jack Pub; a trip to IMS for Grounds Tour and Museum Tour; as well as our tech sessions, auto cross, tire kicking, lie swapping, our auction, and more is in the works.

During our last site visit to Indy, we were advised by track officials that track tours would not be available during our stay due to the track already being committed from Wednesday through Sunday to the Richard Petty Driving Experience and another function. (GoF Central was not mentioned during our conversation.) Grounds tours will be available. I do NOT know if this will effect the track tour that GoF Central had planned or not.

Our base hotel, the Clarion Waterfront, is the same hotel that we used for BritishV8 2010. It is located on the west side of Indy near the intersection of I-74 and I-465. The base hotel for GoF Central is the Renaissance Indianapolis North Hotel in Carrmel and is located on the north end of Indy, Our room rate is considerably less than that of GoF Central.

Perhaps we can make a run over to the Renaissance one afternoon to socialize with their registrants and convince one or two to come over to the Dark Side. The Renaissance is about 20 miles (25 minutes) drive from the Clarion Waterfront.

As soon as I have the registration from complete, I will be sure that Curtis receives it and can post it here on BritishV8.

You can reserve your hotel room NOW by calling the Clarion Waterfront (317.299.8400) and using the room block code BRITISH V8. Please call the hotel directly at this number...do NOT use the Clarion website or other online services.

Our room rate is $72 + 17% tax for a total of $84.24 per night.

(Compare to the Renaissance at $129 + tax for a total of about $150 per night).

See you in Indy for BritishV9 2015!

Just made our reservation.

Rick is correct about the speed, when we did THE lap in 96 (I think). The speed was 35 and watched, as was no passing. A week or so before, as I remember a group of Vipers were to do their lap and one of the first cars on the track, "lit them up" and all of them were ejected from the track.

You guys are starting to ramp up the pressure.......so, I made a room reservation this afternoon....early birds get the double queens - nothing worse than sharing a King size with your best friend who snores.
....did I mention that the rooms have a mini fridge.....you need it for July in Indy!
All that said, anticipating a good V8 party from the Stooges.
