Re: British Car Day - Dayton OH
A great day with morning temps in the high 50's gradually reaching the mid 70's during the day...272 British cars attended the meet, with the Britiish conversion group , for the 2nd consecutive year, having the highest participation clas...20+ cars was by far the largest class...we even moved up this year to row one with plenty of shade trees for comfort!

Re: British Car Day - Dayton OH
David & I enjoyed our visit to the Dayton show. Met up with friends and had great visits and meals. Got the Long Distance award for miles traveled. 425 one-way. Parked with other conversions rather than the JAGUARS. Arrived home around 6:30pm Sunday evening. The Dayton Show ROCKS!

Does anyone have any photos that they would like to share for those who couldn't be there?

Re: British Car Day - Dayton OH
I finished second to Kelly with 369 miles to the show. Should have taken the long way around. ;)
It was a great show attended by good number of British V8 friends. I mainly went to help Mike Maloney pad the class & to visit my friends. The shade trees were a nice bonus. I stopped at Jim Blackwood's to leave my MG & pilot the MG Roadmaster. It was a 75 mile jaunt from his house to the show field. Jim led the way in his blown, injected, & winged Beast, followed by the Roadmaster & Dan Blackwood's quad cam Lexus V8 TR7. We caused quite a scene as we blasted up the Interstate. It was a hoot! |

Re: British Car Day - Dayton OH
Carl omitted the award Jim received at the Show. He got an award for "The Most Technically Advanced) British sports car. Wonder why????. He pulled in, hit the tilt front end button and showed the crowd his opening act. Later when asked, he advised some of the other mods. Great show, great people and fun times. BTY, there was a Spitfire powered by Honda M/C Magna V4 for power. Shaft drive and air-water cooled.

Re: British Car Day - Dayton OH
I believe the award said "Unique" The irony is that Phil McConnell was there with his Spitfire that sits on a Corvette chassis sporting a license plate that reads "Unique1". :)

Re: British Car Day - Dayton OH
Carl...yes I shamelessly did all I could to get all the cars I could into the modifed class..co-incidentally, that philosophy has paid off as we have literally gone from the last/furthest position row (no trees) to the number one one row with those great shade trees that make the day so comfortable...this happened as a result of having the most cars in class for the last two years! One small change I would make however is I would use the word "enhanced" rather than "pad" the class...chuckle....A great time was had by everyone...the only problem that results from having so many great friends and cars is that I rarely left the "modified row" as I was so busy chatting (read that as BSing) with everyone...I want to thank everybody for attending and look forward to even better "modifed" attendance next year..

Re: British Car Day - Dayton OH
Wait - does that mean it's official/committed -- 2018 is Dayton? That's where my dad got his college degree; I'll need to figure out a way to have him participate. At 77, I'm not sure if he'll be up to 20 hours in the MG, so I might have to pick him up at an airport close by.
