Re: Useful Tools
I use 6500K on my planted aquarium. I have them in the garage, as well. I find them a bit harsh & blue. I will step back to 5000K next time. I had to drop to less than that in the house.

Had to? Dropped back? It's a color choice isn't it?

Re: Useful Tools
6.5K is brighter than daylight. Typical TV studio lighting is 3200K, Daylight film used to be made for 5700K (do they make film anymore?) I think fluorescents are around 5K. Filters we used to correct were blue for daylight, amber for studio (tungsten) and kind of green for fluorescent. I did a shoot one time where we actually gelled a window to get the right color temperature to match TV lights we had set up in a living room. Newer cameras digitally correct color, so it is no longer as critical as it used to be.
I just bought some recessed retrofit cans from Superbrightleds to put in bedrooms at 4K. Side by side with a 3k, they look white. I also have those lights Jim and Jim were talking about in my pavilion.. It will be a garage someday. |

Re: Useful Tools
I'd shared about borescope cameras that plug into cell phones back on page one. Just learned the newest version of Android (v10) has apparently disabled support for external cameras via USB?? Luckily I had an old phone that wasn't upgraded so I've blocked it from auto-updates. If you got one of these things, you might want to do the same.

Re: Useful Tools
Quite useful (on the first page) and more amusing on the second page of the thread. I want to do my bit as well. I don't know of any particularly useful things, but I think a garage light sensor, one of those sold on Aliexpress, would work well. They are there for other purposes, but I bought one and now I have a night light in my garage ;)
Speaking of sensors. Another good supplier might be sourceme - [sourceme.com]. They deal with rotation sensors and similar things. Might be useful. Edited 2 time(s). Last edit at 03/19/2021 09:50AM by Skerid. |

Curious which toggle clamp have you found most applicable to the kind of tasks you've run into around the car? --John |
