Cosby was also the site of the car display during MG2006.

So, what's the story on the section from Wears Valley to Cosby? Another 52 years, if ever?

"The Foothills Parkway now has two finished sections at each end of the 72-mile corridor, the release said. On the western side, it goes on for 33 continuous miles from Chilhowee to Wears Valley, which is a new experience for motorists and cyclists. On the eastern side, the other section extends six miles from Cosby to I-40, with views of Mt. Cammerer, and was completed in 1968."

Accoroding to this, the National park Service owns the right of way, but it has not been funded.

More news coverage, how the bridge was constructed. Engineering students walk the bridge.

Drove it today, but too much drizzle and fog to enjoy the scenery. Very nice drive, though. Will go again and get pictures when the weather clears.

I also recently discovered another great road between Sevierville and Walland that will make a nice drive for next fall's gathering.
