I've been traveling, with only occasional internet access... now, I'm a bit confused about where this stands.

I think the original question was:
Quote:
What's the highest output (bhp, not torque) naturally aspirated v8 engine ever fitted to a production vehicle?
Limited production and homologation is fine, one offs and race cars aren't.

Since no one answered quickly, an alternate question was asked:
Quote:
What's the most powerful naturally aspirated engine ever fitted to an MGB?

In response to the second / alternate question, Graham guessed:
Quote:
Chevy 454?
- and I've got to believe that's a winning guess. Surely this is the most powerful completed MGB conversion, no:
Tom DiCenzo's 1963 MGB, with Chevrolet 454cid V8
http://www.britishv8.org/MG/TomDiCenzo/TomDiCenzo-B.jpg

Four days later, Carl apparently took a stab at the first / original question:
Quote:
I'm going with the Ascari A10.

I don't have a clue if that's right... but it sounds like a good guess to me.

Alan, do we have a winner yet?

The A10 isn't what I had in mind.
I was sorta allowing the Weineck Cobra, which is insane.
Since it's debateable if it's production, I was hedging with the Mercedes S63.
I'll take the A10 though.

The second question - I had no idea as to the correct answer.
I was curious, and given the Marque weighting here look at the threads or post counts) figured I'd get more of a response if I slanted the question that way.

If the 454 IS the biggest, it wins. If not, then the A10 wins.
Is that fair?

Yeah, I think Graham nailed it. I'm confident he was thinking of Tom DiCenzo... so it should probably be noted that Tom's engine is only nominally a 454. In the article I linked to above, Tom stated that it's actually been built up to 468cid. A 540cid / 695hp Shafiroff Ultra Street engine is in the works because 468cid just isn't enough. (Awesome!) So, if Tom's car isn't already the most powerful MGB, surely it will be soon.

I think they made 50 A10s.

Graham can have it, I have to go to work.

Just for Carl, ( who is presumably at work), here's a trivia question with an artistic flavour.
In 1972, a well known Canadian artist painted this scene of his MG at his home in Guelph.

Name the artist.

Nope. Got off at 2pm today. No internet at work, anyway.

Lots of talent in that field.

Clue # 2. Here's the artist's painting of the Great One on his farewell retirement from hockey.
