Re: BritishV8 Trivia Contest
Bill Young now has the floor as he (quickly) got two out of three of the proprietors.
The third owner was Jack Jenkins. |

Re: BritishV8 Trivia Contest
Rick, I can't think of anything to ask, didn't figure I'd be the winner on this one. I'll have to ask my friends from St. Louis about Jack, that's a name I've never heard before. If anyone else has a question please go ahead and take the floor. I'll try to come up with something soon if not.

Yup.....1973 vintage, found in a Bentley dealership's workshop during a "mantrip" to Indianapolis last week.

Re: BritishV8 Trivia Contest
You should have blanked out the text on the front. That would have made it a bit harder. It's a Ford Capri. Clearly it has a bodykit added. Since that says "Tickford", and the car has a turbocharger in it, it's not hard to say that it's a "Tickford Capri". Probably has Turbo in there somewhere too. iirc, Tickford were owned by AM - not sure if that's what you were looking for here...
Year is a guess, but it's going have to be early 80's, so let's try 83. |

Re: BritishV8 Trivia Contest
Alan - I was hoping the fascia text was suitably undiscernible, but apparently I wuz wrong!
It is indeed a 1986 (titled in 1988) Aston Martin Capri Tickford w/ a turbocharged 2.8L Ford - this is the last one of only 100 made. I'm sure Wikipedia et al will have more detailed information on this collaboration between AM and Ford. Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 07/24/2009 05:29PM by ex-tyke. |

Re: BritishV8 Trivia Contest
I don't want to have to pose a question, but I do know that answer to Alan's though, the plus side of subscribing to Classic and Sports Car for so many year. How about you other guys?

Re: BritishV8 Trivia Contest
If it's what I think, the company that I worked for for 34+ years has a factory there - been there a few times.

Re: BritishV8 Trivia Contest
I thought this would have been answered in no time.
I'll give you a clue. It's not Tickford, but it would have been a good guess, based on the relative histories. |

Re: BritishV8 Trivia Contest
Well, I think International Trucks has a factory in Springfield Ohio.
Was there a British car company called "Springfield"? |

Re: BritishV8 Trivia Contest
Not a car company named "Springfield" but you are certainly in the right neck of the Buckeye woods.

Re: BritishV8 Trivia Contest
ding ding ding ding ding ding - We finally have a winner!
Dan has to ask the next question. The rest of the answer can be found here: Lagonda car company was named for the river that runs through Springfield Ohio. |

Re: BritishV8 Trivia Contest
In the early 60s, the TRIUMPH AWARD was presented to the MVP of what athletic contest, and what did the player receive as his award?
