Ken Smith, aka Marcham Rhoade, of Moss Motors, Classic MG, Aspects of Abingdon, and MGB Driver fame, recently published a limited edition (pun intended) of 251 copies on the MGB LE (1979-1980)

Now, which BritishV8 columnist drives a car that looks like that...

Yes! Ken Smith's new book includes a section on Martyn's MGB-LE V8-conversion.

Martyn, with "Harv8":

Incidentally, here's a snapshot of Ken's old MGB GT V8:

Ken's turn to ask a trivia question!

Alright, let's go back a few years.

To a British car enthusiast, what did an event called "London Thunder" signify?

"London Thunder" ?

A rally of 400 or more TVR's enthusiast delivered this Petition to the House of Commons.

To: UK House of Commons

To the House of Commons

The Petition of TVR car owners, car enthusiasts and employees of the company and their families.

Declares that the loss of the manufacture of TVR cars in Blackpool is not only detrimental to the economy and people of the town, but will further erode both this Country's manufacturing base and the reputation for innovative design and engineering enterprise that specialist car companies such as TVR have established over the past sixty years.

The petitioners therefore request that the Prime Minister asks the Department of Trade and Industry to :

(i) Investigate all options that are available to keep the manufacture of TVR cars in Blackpool

(ii) Provide whatever help and guidance may be appropriate from the Secretary of State's good offices to TVR management during the ongoing Consultation Period.

(iii) Provide help, assistance and understanding for the 260 TVR staff from their Local Government as they look for new employment.

And the petitioners remain etc

Well stated Calvin. But this very large gathering of TVR enthusiasts were out to accomplish one other thing with "London Thunder". What was that other thing?

I'm thinking maybe they intended to bring down the walls of Jericho (or #10 Downing Street) with thunderous exhaust. The noise would certainly have gotten a lot of press attention. Probably set off some alarms...

Good addition to the answer Rick. In actual fact, "Autoblog" reported that the TVR owners were firstly attempting to break the record for the largest convoy of a single car make,(killing two pheasents with one loud stone). The record, at the time, apparently was held by a gathering of 249 Mazda Miatas in New Zealand of all places. London Thunder took place in November 2006. They had the 249 number beat but that Italian Fiat 500 Club got together in July of 2006 and gathered an even number of 500. That seems to be holding.

Let me award the most correct answer to Calvin and he my now ask the next Trivia question.

There was an attempt for a record of single marque cars made at MG '94 in Washington DC at the end of that year's NAMGBR meet. I'll have to look up how many were in line...I believe that at that time, the Miata Club held the record.

Thanks Ken, That was fun research, didn't know, would have been nice to be presently there to see it happen!

OK, next Trivia question.

Fill in the car below?

According to Hemmings Motor News, the (-----------------------------) 24 feet turning circle is the shortest distance of any production car built.

If your answer is right, it would be(Actor) Nicolas Cage's first car that he owned.

Of course the bonus question would be.....What color was Nicolas Cage's first car?

Easy.
Triumph Herald.
I used to have a green convertible...

Well 30 seconds of google gives Nicolas Cage's first car as a Spit. Same chassis (albeit shortened), and the Herald was always touted as having the tightest turning circle - it was described as the same turning circle as a London taxi (whereas the Spit wasn't) so can I have partial credit...

So far Alan has answered the question which was a Spitfire. Alan, I didn't know the Herald had a tigher turning capability.

Anyone guess on the color?

Ok, Nicolas Cage's first car was a Spitfire and the color was -----------?

Slightly different - and should be easy.

What British car is faster and more powerful than a Bugatti Veyron?
Extra credit for anyone who can name the motor source.

Irregardless of whether or not this video clip provides the right answer or not,(McLaren F1, BMW powered), it's still great entertainment. I don't recall the driver's name but he looks pretty competent behind the wheel.
