I'll have to disqualify myself too......but I did buy the movie sound track (on 33 vinyl) back in the day - it was awesome!

In the interest of keeping things moving along briskly...

Here are some clues:
1) this fantastic movie won three Academy Awards - and probably deserved more,
2) it's available in a two-DVD special edition with many 60's racing stars in the "making-of" segments,
3) Ferrari cooperated with the production company, which was unheard of back in those days,
4) reportedly, the movie's main star was quite a prodigy when it comes to driving racecars!

Grand Prix is correct.

I, too, have the vinyl LP soundtrack to Grand Prix.

Cool.

Guess I get to ask the next question:

Here are a couple of warm ups....

1) Why do the British drink warm beer?
2) Which British car got its engine from farm machinery?

Now for the real question:

There was a song where a Cobra was dusting off Jags and Vettes, but he towed the Cobra to the track. What was the tow vehicle?

I know, I know, I know, but I'll let someone else have a turn. One of my favorites. I once made a tape of all the car songs from the 50s and 60s I could find and played it for inspiration while I was building my "Altered".

R.E.O. Speedwagon maybe? OK probably not right bit it'd be kinda neat if it was.

Did Lucas, Prince of Darkness really make British refrigerators? And does a fork lift (tow motor) count?

Jim, I think the reason for the warm beer is that they need something to warm them up even on their mild summer days as it's a bit chilly over there most of the time and damp. ;-) The reason for the rosy cheeks on the children, they're friggin cold!
There's a good reason that the most popular British vacation spots are Spain, the Canary Islands, and Florida. Someplace warm and with lots of sun.

After last summer's vacation at Williamsburg, and multiple trips to Busch Gardens and the complimentary beer tastings, it appears there is a school of thought (or taste) that says the ales taste better at around 50 degree. I can't say I agree with that, but legend has it that pubs in England keep their beer in the basement, where the temperature is constant, and so they don't need refrigerators. Jim, when you were in England, did you have the opportunity to check that out?

From Tim Web "Booksaboutbeer.com" : "There is a sound reason why British ales should be drunk at a temperature of 55-56 degrees Fahrenheit (14-15 degrees Celsius). This is that many of the most important flavour and aroma chemicals are most volatile and active at that temperature. This maximises the taste.

Many modern commercial beers are clilled to near freezing point in order to suppress he flavour and aroma chemicals. This is often because they are made from cheap ingredients and in a hurry.

Any beer of a quality that has "something to say" should not be chilled to near freezing. Many top quality American ales from microbreweries and top quality (100% malted barley highly hopped) German lagers are recommended to be served nearer to 8 - 10 degrees Celsius (44 to 48 degrees Fahrenheit) rather than superchilled for this reason."

Which is pretty much what the beer folks at Busch Gardens said, yet their "Chill chambers" were set to 28 degrees.

And I don't see any reason why a forklift shouldn't count. They use forklifts on farms sometimes, right?

REO Speedwagon? Travelall? NAHHHH!

They didn't give me the cellar tour, and a week certainly wasn't long enough to get a decent sampling of the beers. For some reason Tea time sticks firmly in my memory, a strong flavor and squarish chunks of raw sugar. Gave me the jitters but I rarely missed it. The beer I recall being different, quite drinkable and all, but available in vast variety as well so that I'd have needed much more time to evaluate it properly.

Sorry, I can't remember that line from the song.

Jim

Well, if that's right then which episode of Lost had a LBC in it, what was the car and what color? There may have been more than one episode and if so we'll narrow it down as we go.

Season 3, Episode 8 "Flashes Before Your Eyes" or Episode 17 "Catch-22".

Since Desmond's new love, Penny, comes from a very wealthy family, I'll have to guess a Rolls Royce since I don't really remember. Or maybe she wanted to keep a low profile while loading wine from the monastary and used a Jag.

I knew there had to be more than one. Did you find the MG?

(It was in episode 8, Carl got that correct.)

I'm not sure a Rolls and Jag really qualify as "Little" British Cars.
