I need a set to mount my front chrome bumper. Anyone have a decent set lying around?

Thanks,

Brad

Brad-

I have a chrome bumper '71 MGB. I think I have what you are looking for- the long bolts that secure the bumper mount extensions to the chassis. How many bolts do you need. And do you also need the bumper mount extensions ?
thanks, lee

Lee,

I was requesting a set of chrome bolts to mount the bumper to the bracket. I found very nice chrome bolts at Ace Hardware. I think I have to weld up captive nuts to the front frame to mount the brackets to the car, right?

Brad, are you talking about the chrome plated round headed trim bolts that attach the bumper? Should be either 4 or 6 of them? Moss sells those new (and used ones are often rusty enough that you don't want them) but if you have access to a lathe ( or a drill and a disc sander) you can make very nice stainless ones. They have a couple of flats behind the head which keep the bolt from turning. Now it's been awhile, but I'm thinking the approach I used was to get some stainless carriage bolts that fit those slotted holes in the bumper and then cut down, round off, and polish the heads. Look as good or better, and don't rust.

For the brackets, one bolt has a nut inside the frame rail and the other is through bolted.
