Re: tri y headers, FWIW
Zillions of different sbf headers, some of which will fit the engine bays of our beloved British money pits. Find a pair you like(cheap), cut the flanges off,(head), section shorten the distance of front-rear pair of primaries to match Rover port spacing. Weld on your preferred Rover flanges and "Whallaa" ! Good Luck, roverman.

Re: tri y headers
Please keep in mind that the left side has to be different. Your second pic/headers are not the best for performance but I realy don't know if it is recognized if you just "drive".

Re: tri y headers
Plan now is to use a program called "Pipe Max" to design the header specs to my engine and have a local shop build them out of stainless. Not sure how soon this will happen but if anyone else is interested let me know. These will be for Buick 300 heads, larger exhaust port size in a 79 MGB rdst.
I have a really nicely made set of RV8 SS headers from D&D/UK supplier that fit the smaller exhaust port sizes BOP/Rover heads I would like to sell. price $1000.00 or best offer? dave bash |

Re: tri y headers
Photos? Rover 4.0 heads have a significantly bigger port size than the BOPR 3.5L heads. Do these fit the larger or regular port size?
I've been running custom tri-y headers from the beginning. I sized the primaries to perfectly match the Buick 215 ports. Now that I've updated to Rover 4.0 heads there's a big step-down at the header flange, which obviously can't be good. |

Re: tri y headers, back in the "Day"
I used to put 300/340 exhaust manifolds on stock 215's. They always ran and fit better. I supect "most" 4L.+ motors could benefit from 1 5/8" primary pipes, in try-y or longer 4 into 1. "Dr. Dan Jones" may want to elaborate. "Hint", many sbf headers are 1 5/8" primaries. Cheers and Happy New Year-All, roverman.
