Rover 3.9L Shortblock Major Components
Posted by: ddelong1

I have a Rover 3.9L block, front cover, crankshaft, conrod assemblies and 8 new 9.35:1 cast pistons. I have had this for a while as a spare engine but am unable to use the 3.9 block for vintage racing. If you are interested in this as a package deal to start a V8 conversion please contact me. I have high res pics of all parts and can provided detailed shots of any item. I'm thinking $500 for the whole package, but reasonable offers will be considered. Buyer pays shipping from Asheville NC, 28803.

I also have the cylinder heads but had planned on keeping those. If you have a very strong interest, I may be willing to sell as a package deal.

Hi, Doug,

I'm interested in your 3.9 Rover block and crankshaft - if it has the 4 bolt mains.

I've petitioned the SCCA for a rules change on the Rover engine requirement for the MG Rover RV8... and if the SCCA allows it in the official GCR rulebook, I hope to build a second and stronger Rover engine for my SCCA RV8 GT2 car. My present 3.5 Rover engine turned out to be a pretty good engine - except that I only turn it to 6,000 rpm and it really is down on power compared to the other cars in the class. The RV8 makes it up via weight - only 2,201 lbs required - with all fluids and driver aboard.

Let me know if the the block is of the 4 bolt main variety and if so, I'll make you an offer.

keep them on the track,

phillip g

Phillip, I think the series II/3.9L blocks had provisions for cross bolted mains, but were not drilled/tapped. Since it's likely you will be using a "cast" crank, I would suggest the 4.0L for better crank strength,2.5" mains vs 2.300". With this, you also get the better, crank driven oil pump. Good Luck, roverman

Hey guys, sorry for the delayed response. I thought I'd get an e-mail when replies were posted. The block is indeed a 2-bolt Main version, it is pre-95 3.9L. There are pads on the exterior for the side bolts so I suppose it's possible to convert it, but probably not worth the effort.

Many of these parts are now on Ebay, my seller ID is Mud351c. Please PM me if you need more details, though I will try to check this thread more often.

Bump. Someone called me a few weeks ago on these parts and I lost the number. Apologies, please try again if you see this.

Bump again. Getting ready to relocate and really want to lighten the load. No reasonable offer for these parts refused.
