So cool!
What are we up to now? 13, maybe 14 distinct off-the-shelf intake manifold options for BOPR? The parts/options are definitely out there, if you're patient and willing to look. |

Never seen this.
How does one set it up? I suppose what I'm saying, how is it controlled? Can the injectors be serviced? Not that I'm terribly tempted, but having just had a tough tussle with my pair of SUs, I'm not outright saying no. Ivor |

Re: Hilborn F.I. for your 215 $1,650 OBO
IMHO, Crude but effective, as mechanical injections go. Pump output controlled by rpm input. Pressure/volume, to the injectors, is regulated by easily changed "pill"/ restricting orface. Excess fuel is returned to the tank. I also have one these BOR set-ups. Butterflies are 1.800", so lil' small for TA heads. I hope to use in a nostalgia build, before I'm too nostalgic ? Thanks for the post, roverman.

Just FYI, some folk are now converting these to EFI while retaining the original injector bodies.
So getting the nostalgia look with modern performance. As I recall it took very careful tuning to make these more than an off-on switch for your engine. Common in dragsters and land speed record efforts. |

If anyone is curious, this article features an installed Hillborn system:

Re: Hilborn F.I. for your 215 $1,650 OBO
What an excellent article....where it says... 'Hilborn fuel injection systems are still available brand new! Bob reports: "The engine idles nicely at 700/800rpm and pulls well from 1000rpm to 6500rpm, at full or part throttle." '
Wonder if I could use it in my TR6/215 conversion, or whether it would be a pita, especially given that there is probably zero knowledge over here in the UK. And of course, 'pulls well' means one thing in a track car, something else on the road.. Ivor |

Re: Hilborn F.I. for your 215 $1,650 OBO
Ivor and clan, If you were vintage racing, skilled and brave, you could likely, pull it off. Street use, more of a pita. Biggie on the street is "loading-up", at idle and light/lower loads. One solution was putting a small return tank, in the engine compartment, to reduce this. Interesting side story, on my unit, Autin Healey with Hilborn 215, on Mulholland Drive. You can almost hear the carnage-right ? Car was a genuine Healey Monster, in the turns. Nobody needs an on/off switch, for that. Onward, roverman.
