TR6 Rear Disc Brake Conversion Brackets for Sale
Triumph TR6 Rear Disc Brake Conversion / brackets only
I have completed my TR6 rear disc brake conversion. I had a CNC Machine shop in Columbus, OH cut my caliper brackets out of ½” steel. To keep cost down I ordered extra sets hoping that others might want to follow suit and not go through the engineering progress on their own. The brackets were designed on a CAD system, modified through test fittings in aluminum and then CNC out of steel. My design incorporates an e-brake, keeps the spring location, and keeps a gas shock modification with very minor modifications using simple hand tools. The system fit very nice under the swing arm, clearing all obstacles for mounting and arm movement. Only a small quarter size round out is needed for service access to one mounting bolt head. (See pictures attached slide 1) The e-brake cable can be sources from LOKAR. (U cut to fit) Once you have the brackets, you will need to source the disc brake calipers, rotors, misc brake lines and hardware like (12) 2” studs.( to replace stuck studs, too short with the bracket) I don’t want to go into the parts business. The brackets are designed for 1987 Nissan Maxima rear disc brake calipers w/hardware w/e-brake, and the rotors are 1984-94 Nissan 240sx. There are other Nissan models that used the same type of caliper like the 200sx, Stanza, 240sx, Maxima, and some 280zx, but be careful as Nissan changed systems all through the model lines. The e-brake cable can be sources from LOKAR. (U cut to fit) If you have modified to a coil over system or don’t care about the e-brake, the brackets will rotate and flip around for a top mount towards the rear of the swing arm. (See attached picture slide 2, black is steel version) The bracket set (2 brackets) are priced to cover cost only, priced at $160.00, plus shipping costs (I painted fat black to slow down rust)(I’ll include how to Power Point with links to suggested resources) (Also disclaimer) For questions contact dwatson@cet.edu or thru BritishV8 and this posting. Drive safe, but drive IT! |

Re: TR6 Rear Disc Brake Conversion Brackets for Sale
This steel bracket, specified rotors and calipers do work with stock steel wheels.
I pulled the Panasports off, installed my spare steel wheel and checked for clearance. All clear with ample room for stock wheels. You still need to double check your wheels and always be safe FIRST! The 15"x7" Panasports have 0mm offset, 3.9" backspace, whereas the stock steel wheels run +12mm offset, 3.5" backspace. See attached pictures. |

Re: TR6 Rear Disc Brake Conversion Brackets for Sale
I have the CAD files that I used in making the TR6 rear disc brake brackets.
I have various file formats so if you can locate a CNC Shop, I think they will be able to turn you out a set of brackets. (ASC, DES, Dra,DWG,DXF, WRL,STL, IGS, STP,VDA, even a jpeg for reference) This jpeg attached is without information just to give you the idea of quality. These are free for the asking and an email account that can take some large files. Don, would also appreciate you sending the CAD file (AutoCad DWG format is fine) for the disc brake brackets. Would also be interested the caliper part number. Email address is epeppy@hughes.net.
Thanks for making this available! |

Re: TR6 Rear Disc Brake Conversion Brackets for Sale
Had a machine shop make 10 sets of Don Watson's disk brake brackets, using his cad file, with his permission.
5 sets are already spoken for, so have 5 sets left in the run are up for grabs if anyone wants them. There brackets were made out of 1018 ½”grade steel .The cost is $145.00 for the pair shipped in the US. Yesterday I was able to pick up the first brake bracket (from the machine shop) of the run. It took awhile to find someone competent to do the job right. The photo’s show that the outer edge ruff cut was done with a High Definition Plasma cutter, probably ¼ million for the machine. The holes were drilled and the center hole was milled. There is one photo that shows where the Plasma cutter started and stopped on the outside of the bracket. This area does not need to be close tolerance. I will grind off the bump and clean them up before painting black for rust. For further information, can email at waterhook@surewest.net or PM through BV8.org Thanks to Don for making this happen, I’m just helping others as Don was there for me. Calvin |

Re: TR6 Rear Disc Brake Conversion Brackets for Sale
Update,
There are 4 sets of disk brake brackets left as of today out of 11 sets made. So far these bracket's have been sent out to, 1 set to CA, 2 sets to Canada, 1 set to Norway, 1 set to SC, and 2 sets to PA. Monday morning the 7th set will be going to PA. After the last set is sold, if people show enough interest, I can have another batch made up, but of course the more made the price does go down some. Tha batch that is completed now cost $145.00 for the pair (2) brackets to ship anywhere in the US. Out of US is the shipping difference and labeled on the paper work "Parts for an Antique Car". waterhook@surewest.net Calvin |

Re: TR6 Rear Disc Brake Conversion Brackets for Sale
Update!
I have put in an order for a run of 10 more sets of disk brake brackets yesterday! This coming Monday, the machine shop will let me know of a completion date. There have been 4 inquiries for these disk brake brackets to be made, so there will be 6 to 7 set’s available at this time of post left of the run. Same price of $145.00 shipped in the US and more postage out of US. For inquiries for the brackets, email waterhook@surewest.net Calvin |

Re: TR6 Rear Disc Brake Conversion Brackets for Sale
Update!
The machine shop let me know the brackets are being plasma burned now! There are 7 sets out of the 10 spoken for already, and 1 inquiry as of today! Also had an inquiry to have these brackets made in aluminum 1/2" thick (for unsprung weight). I'm getting a quote for 1/4" thick steel brackets too. The only difference using 1/4" steel brackets, would be 1/4' shorter trailing arm studs, and 1/4" shorter caliper mounting bolts. A caliper bracket made in 1/4" steel is plenty strong, they use 1/4" for off road racing. The 1/2" steel brackets are still $145.00 mailed in the USA. I will post a price when I receive the quote for 1/2" aluminum brackets, and 1/4" steel brackets. waterhook@surewest.net Calvin |
