BritishV8 classified ads are provided as a service to readers. We reserve the right to add or change "rules" or "requirements" at any time, and to interpret the rules however we see fit. Furthermore, BritishV8 and particularly its Editor and/or message board Moderator are NOT responsible for the accuracy of ads or for the quality, safety, or fitness-for-use of any advertised product for any use.

General Rules for Classified Ads
1) Effective immediately, no ad for any parts or services will be accepted from any professional business UNLESS the business first purchases a banner advertisement on the BritishV8 website. (This rule doesn't apply to individual amateurs / non-professionals.) Information about buying a banner ad appears here: [www.britishv8.org]
2) Ads will be deleted, at the moderator's sole discretion, if they don't include the following basic info:
- the name of the seller
- some sort of contact information for the seller
- the physical location of the car, the part, and/or service provider
- the asking price for all listed cars or parts
3) When the item or items sell, or become unavailable, we expect you to tell us!
4) Ads that aren't relevant to classic British cars or to the modification of these cars will be removed.
5) Any ad that strikes us as "spammy", misleading, or offensive will be removed.

Classified Ads for Cars - The Either/Or Rule
This rule applies to all cars that are advertised as "complete" or "running" and that have a non-original engine for performance reasons (or that were built with a V8 engine by the factory).

Either:
1a) Before posting your car for sale, photographs and a completed "How It Was Done" form must FIRST be submitted to and approved by the Magazine's Editor. For your convenience, here are:

Moderator Elaborates on the "How It Was Done" Submission Requirement

BritishV8's How It Was Done articles are the core of our website, and are a continuing tradition that dates back almost twenty years to the beginning of "The MG V-8 Newsletter", a printed mailing from which BritishV8 began. Over 200 engine installations have been documented in a consistent format which includes both an executive summary of each car's features and also useful photos of design and construction details. Newbies to this forum are encouraged to visit and review our How It Was Done archive from this link: Index of How It Was Done Articles

We take these articles very seriously. We want to build the database. We want your car in the database. We want you to make a sincere effort at filling out the How It Was Done form accurately and in sufficient detail so that it provides potentially meaningful information to someone contemplating a similar engine installation. We expect you to try to FILL every blank space on the worksheet. We're looking for DETAILS. If you didn't build the car yourself or if you've forgotten construction details, no matter. We'll help you. (Quite a lot of specifications can be gleaned from careful analysis of photos.)

What about photos? Here again, we expect you to make a sincere effort of documenting the car's unique features in photographs. Hint: a How It Was Done article that's missing a good photo of the engine compartment is obviously incomplete. Duh! (Most likely, multiple engine photos at various angles should be included.)

Our How It Was Done articles have helped a lot of people sell their cars. They've also raised the collective value of converted British sports cars in the overall car market. We want to present your car in a professional manner to help continue this success. We won't stand for people who make an insincere effort to satisfy the one and only simple requirement for posting their car in this classified section. We reserve the right to reject any article and/or classified ad submission.

Moderator Elaborates on General Rules #2 and #3

The "basic info" requirement of the general rules applies to what's posted in the BritishV8 classified ad. Linking to another website isn't sufficient to meet the requirement. In other words, it's okay to link to a classified ad that appears elsewhere but only if enough information is provided here so we can comprehend what's being sold without leaving. Furthermore:

1) New message threads must be descriptively titled. If the thread title is non-descriptive (e.g. "FYI") or misleading, the thread will be deleted.

2) New message threads must contain some meaningful content besides a link. In the case of links to ads posted elsewhere (e.g. eBay or Craigslist), the message should at the very least include a summary of what's being offered for sale, where it's physically located, and what the asking or starting price is.

Re: the How-It-Was-Done requirement.

Since addition of new How-It-Was-Done articles to the Photo Galleries is currently suspended, people who wish to advertise their modified British cars for sale in classified ads may alternatively post their How-It-Was-Done articles into the message board's Project Journals section.

Please copy-and-paste the How-It-Was-Done form into your journal, and title your journal thread descriptively.

Please note that the Project Journal section permits up to 100 photos per journal thread.
