Pigtail for Ford T-5 backup light switch
Posted by: AL WULF

WTB the pigtail with wiring for a Ford T-5 back up light switch. I have a GM T-5 but have put in the backup light switch off of a Ford T-5 because there isn't room to plug in the wiring with the GM switch in place.

Can't help with the pigtail Al, but you might find a way to attach individual connectors at the 2 posts

Graham,
Thanks for responding. I can modifiy individual connector and make it work. This morning I'm going to a local pull and pick and see if by chance the connector you pictured is used somewhere else on other Fords. I guess I could also solder wires on and put shrink wrap over them.

I bought mine from the Ford dealer, but that was a few years ago. Don't know if they still carry them.

There's a used harness on ebay but it seems a little pricey.......

Dan,
I tried to buy it from the local Ford dealer, but they were discontinued some ago.

Graham,

Thanks for the heads up on the one on E-bay, but rather than spending 50 bucks I'll fabricate something.

My car, a '67, didn't come with backup lights, but because both rear quarters have been replaced with ones from later cars, I decided to keep the holes for the backup lights. When I realized there wasn't room to use the GM style switch I hooked them up to a toggle switch. Right now I have the transmission out of the car, so this the ideal time to change. A guy at a transmission repair shop gave me the Ford switch, but he didn't have the sub harness.

Al, I would also consider looking at other salvage autos. Ford Ranger, Mustangs, T-bird, Maybe a F-150, etc. They may use the T-5 Trans, The Mustang does. There has to be a dead Mustang in a local yard.

Just in case that you need the part number and according to my wholesale Ford parts dealer it's still available.

Kelly: Next week when I have some free time I'll go to one of our local pull N pick yards and study the cars in the Ford section
and see if there any with T-5 transmissions. (probably not likely) Like you I'm certain that Ford wouldn't have had that connector made up for just one application. The local Ford dealer claimed that it is no longer available. I did modify to round generic connectors and it is working, but the Ford part would be better.

Jacques: Thanks for posting the part number. I just did a google search and it is available from Obsolete Classic Auto Parts for $51.95 The application is A '69 to '78 F100/350 truck with a 4 speed transmission. Maybe I'll get lucky.

Thanks again for all the responses.
