7 Rover V8 engines in California
I've been out of the British car thing a few decades...but came across these v8s after a friend passed away...total of 7 v8 engines...there are 3.5 , 3.9 and 4.0 some are pretty clean and look like poss runners...all have offenhauser 360 4bbl intakes...2 have tr8 oil pans all of them have earlier SD1 front covers...4 have manual transmission clutches and flywheels
I'd really prefer to sell all at once...if not sold after a few weeks ...I'll pull the intakes and parts and sell separately please if interested message me w a phone number and I'll be happy to call you |

Re: 7 Rover V8 engines in California
Cool. That explains everything. I wonder how many Plus-8-Plus conversions ended up happening...

The last chapters of the Isis story are way under-reported. This article would've benefitted from bigger/better/more photos: [www.gomog.com]

Brian, if you end parting them out, I'm interested in one of the intakes and perhaps two of the front covers. Are there any exhaust headers? I've got a Rover 4.2L that I'll be doing some dyno testing on and I don't have an Offenhauser 360 intake. Thanks, Dan Jones |

Re: 7 Rover V8 engines in California
Brian, I sent a PM on the front covers.
> What pistons are you using, Dan? That one has a stock short block so OEM standard bore Rover 4.2L pistons and rings. It was some sort of new-old-stock long block that I purchased locally. Someone had backed off the main cap bolts. When torqued to spec, the crank was way too tight so I had my machinist align hone it. Original plan was that it would be a back up engine that would serve temporary duty while I built another engine. It ended up with ported Rover 3.9L heads that flow 190 CFM intake and 136 CFM at 0.500" lift through 1.782" diameter intake and 1.450" diameter exhaust valves. Camshaft is a custom solid flat tappet (228/234 degrees @ 0.050" lift, 0.517"/0.531" gross lift less hot valve lash of 0.018"/0.019", 110 degrees LSA. Lifters each have a 0.024" oiling hole in lifter face. Also has roller rockers and a Cloyes double roller timing set. The heads have been re-shaped with a quench pad and have 23cc chambers. With the thinner head gaskets, compression should be near 10.8:1. Has a TR8 oil pan and front cover with and externally adjustable oil pressure regulator and Ruggles-type booster plate. Baseline intake manifold is a ported Edelbrock Performer but I've also got Harcourt and Willpower single planes to test. Dyno carburetor is a modified Holley 4180 My other 4.2L is a cross-bolted block with Carrillo rods and Wiseco custom forged pistons for a 3.706" bore and have 1.25" compression height. Dan |
