WTB Running Olds 215 in MN, WI, or IA
Posted by: olds70supreme

Hello,

I am looking for a running Olds 215 in or near the upper midwest. I would like something that I could drop in with minimal rebuilding involved, although I may also be interested in a non runner that was complete. I am located about 1 hour south of Minneapolis, MN - obviously the closer the better but I know beggers can't be choosers. Could anybody who has one or who knows where I might find one please help me out?

Thanks.

Hi Kraig,

Welcome to the British V8 from one of the guys up north.... of Minneapolis.

I dont know of any at the moment, but I would suggest trying a few of the salvage yards on this site:
[car-part.com]

Also, keep a weekly check at the u-pull-our-parts yards. There is one on the south end and one up north of Mpls. I didn't have time to pull the last two 3.4L V6 engines that passed through the yard with under 90,000 miles on each of them and that yard is only 15 minutes west of me. Its amazing what you can find and good prices in the salvage yards. Well, some of them!

I should have mentioned that what i am speaking of is the newer engines out of the 1980's and 1990's. Same basic blocks, but bigger bore and better build. I think they are 3.9, 4.2 and 4.6L V8- same basic engine if you can go for something a bit different.

i am in mpls and i have a buick 300, would need a rebuild or going through, but you would have the same dimension size motor as the 215 but nearly a 5.0L , i bought it to swap my car a few years ago but sold the car so it sits in dry storage. very reasonable

Kraig,
I tossed a wanted add on the local Des Moines IA Craigs List and got some feed back. Most though were out of what my price range is going to allow. Might do that?

ps I am on the look out too but more on a casual basis... looking for a deal as I dont need one, but would like ot have one sometime

Not quite, it's taller.

Check out the Rover that was just posted in Wichita. Sounds like just what you need for an inexpensive conversion.
