Sit down switch on and go - E-Type + SBC
Anyone know this car?
[www.ebay.co.uk] And who built it? And when? There is no hiwd. The seller knows little about it, but it is unusual in having the axle, suspension and brakes of a Chevy Monza, which appears to be mounted on the Monza floorpan. Ivor Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 07/07/2016 04:55AM by 88v8. |

It's interesting. Sits too high for my taste though, wonder what it'd take to lower it? Anyway, looks like it sold for $14k. If that's right someone got a deal (assuming body is in good shape).

Yes, someone got a deal.
That someone was me. And then that someone, who has never imported a car and tends to leap before he looks, began looking into the import process, and realised that because of the way it's been rebuilt it could fall foul of Govt inspection and need an extensive time-wasting compliance rebuild. Under EU regulations, I may say. Well, another reason to leave. So the seller has kindly agreed to relist it. Here it is. [www.ebay.com] What a beautiful looking and sounding car, no roll cage no silly wheels or idiosyncratic body mods. I shall always regret not being able to fetch it over here. Ivor Edited 1 time(s). That is too bad Ivor.
I am sure you voted to leave. Maybe you need to look into the idea of buying an engine and transmission in the US or Canada and import it to GB and put it into your TR6. Cheers Byron |

Re: Sit down switch on and go - E-Type + SBC
Ahhh, I used to have visions of an engine swap. But I don't have the skills and never had the time. So now I look to buy something that's already done. One reason for the Jag is that apart from its great looks, there is a strong owner's club with a good social side.
Don't really want a car that one can't do much with apart from driving to park-in-a-field meetings. And we seem to have moved on from an OTS. The weather, and getting old I guess. There are other E-Type V8s. Need to find one which has had an engine/box swap, with no chassis cutting or welding and no other component changes. Then I can import it. Just need to do a left/right with the steering wheel, which I should be able to manage. Shame though about this car. It's a straight FHC, whereas many of the engine swaps are in the 2+2, which to me was a bit of an uglification. Onwards. Ivor |
