Ford Anglia 105e, Rover V8

Hi All, I've been pondering what fun things I can do with my 106e. The stock motor is cute as a lawnmower motor but not enough fun for me :)

I've tried the site search to find some of these answers but I keep getting a blank page instead of results.

After some wheeling and dealing I've kind of acquired an interesting combination of parts and I am now attempting to figure out how to get it to work.

What I would love to do is shove a 3.5L SD1 mated to a (one of a kind apparently) bell housing that accepts a TR8 5 speed (still working on what I need for flywheel etc) into the Anglia and the only real thing I can see being an issue is the Rover is a rear sump where as I'll need a front sump.

Is there a front sump conversion readily available? My Google-fu is not finding much.

I am bribing my fav body guy to help me move the firewall to fit the V8 and I am pondering having him make me a new oil pan as well. I can see fab'ing a new pickup to sit in the back and basically reverse the pan.

Any thoughts are appreciated, Thanks!

Just realized I am way over thinking it. Just notch the pan at the back to fit the narrow cross member and maybe add a oil cooler to regain the capacity list.

Welcome to the forum.
That sounds like a neat project.
Could you post some photos for us?

Cheers
Byron

I'm still in planning stages, but sure I can post some.
Went to go look at the "good" tr8 transmission only to find it's half a transmission grr :)
Now to figure out alternative 5 speed options

My car is a 63, super solid. Previous owner did a ton of body work on it.

Hello and welcome.
Not a common swap, but has been done.

One here, with a dealer so he may not be too forthcoming with information, but no harm in asking
[www.ebay.co.uk]

the 1198cc engine has been replaced by a 3.5-litre V8 Rover unit, with Edelbrock 1404 Performer carburettor and Mocal remote oil filter kit. An LT77 gearbox from a Rover SD1 has been installed, together with Sherpa V8 remote linkage and a rear limited-slip diff, adjustable gas struts on the rear and coilovers from a Mk2 Escort on the front.
Has a brake servo, front disc brakes with vented M16 calipers and rear disk brakes with Milton conversion kit, Ford Fiesta discs and Ford Granada calipers. It also has a Milton pedal box with brake bias adjustment between front and rear brakes. A quick rack and pinion kit from a Mk2 Escort has been installed, along with an electric radiator cooling fan, Facet electric fuel pump and PerTronix electronic ignition and an aluminium fuel cell and battery has been fitted in the boot. All engineering and mechanical work has been carried out by MDA Motorsport. Fibreglass boot, bonnet and front wings have been fitted, along with a Safety Devices roll cage, B-G quick-release steering wheel, multi-speed windscreen wipers and new instruments, including Smiths speedometer and tachometer. The car now sits on chrome rostyle wheels and new 165/80R13 tyres and a Thatcham alarm fitted

I'm no fan of unnecessary roll cages, but otherwise this looks well done, and has clearly absorbed a ton of time and cash.

Edit to add, ask is £18,500

Ivor

Hmm. Interesting pics. Looks like the strut towers are in line with the carbs so it's a fair ways back but that make the cross member dead in the middle of the oil pan. Curious how that was handled.
I've found lots of v8 Anglia pics but no real details.

I suspect I have to put an escort under pinning in. The Blue Anglia here has a track and pinion set up where as the original Anglia is an old steering box.
