Hi. Guys, I'm Rodney, new to this site. I have a V8 Spitfire in the Triumph forum. I thought you guys might want to see where the 3.5-4.6 Rover engines came from. The original 61-63 Olds Cutlass and Buick Specials, along with the Pontiac Tempest have gotten hard to find, even in the States. Most of the Aluminum V8 engines went into dune buggies during the 60's and 70. A few ended up in Hot Rods, & Model A's, and less ended up in boats. Most of the cars were scraped. I have saved 2 of them that might be of interest. I have a 1962 Olds Cutlass that I have owned for over 25 years. both my kids learned to drive in it and commuted to work while they saved for their own car. My son set a personal best time at Sacramento drag strip at 13.99 and 101 MPH, when he was 16. The car now has a Rover 4.6 with Offenhouser intake, Erson cam and Summit Racing 600 CFM 4bbl carb. The car also has 1986 XJS IFR and IFS suspension under it. It is a very fun and nice Sport touring sedan. The interior is the factory Sport Coupe package with bucket seats and centeer console. With a later model T5 5 speed. The Jag Brakes are boosted with a GM Hydro Boost and early Corvette all disc master cylinder.

The other Cutlass was a parts car that I aquired over 20 years ago that was rusted around the windows and floors. I have always liked the Late 20's and 30's Duesenbergs, Auburn Boattails and Cords, Along with the full fendered look of the little MG TD's I knew I could never afford a Duesengerg, so I decided to build my own. The Cutlass parts car was cut up and chopped and channeld to fit a Dodge Truck frame. I installed a C Series Cummins Diesel 464 CI. straight 6 with an Allison 6 Speed Automatic. The Front Fenders and Running Boards are 1934 International Truck ($140.00 Ebay) the rear fenders are 1932 Durant 6 ( $100.00) on Craigslist. The Car was built around the Cast Iron Radiator shell with the cas in Cumminc Dependable Diesel. The car is all steel and weighs around 6000LBS. Then engine and ttrans weigh 2000lbs by themselves. The car rides nice, stops well and steers with one finger unlike the real Roadster Royales. Plus it gets 18 M.P.G. at 70 M.P.H. at 1800 R.P.M.
