Re: Sunbeam Tiger: Installing Turbo's
i'd say it would be very hard to beat an 8.50 car unless he broke something, but still you ran great!! sorry to hear about your back window can you race without the top on? you know i have a 66 alpine also and i'm thinking to make a tube chassis with struts for it any suggestions?

Re: Sunbeam Tiger: Installing Turbo's
We got the rear window put back in for 50 bucks i might have to put a couple of straps on it.
As far as your 66 I would cut the x frame out and put in subframe connectors that gives you alot of room for the trans. Find used 9'' ford rearend and put some coil overs in the rear. Update the front end. Now for the motor I would try and find a Buick V-6 with a turbo and use the tranny that comes with it. Second choice would be a T-Bird Turbo 4cyl. with a C-4. Both these motors are FI and I would find a used FAST system for the managment system. I have thought about doing somthing like this to a Alpine but one race car is enough for me now days, guess I'm getting old Damn It |

Re: Sunbeam Tiger: Installing Turbo's
Boy can't believe its been over two years since I did the turbo setup and the big motor setup has been in over a year without any problems.
I've put more street miles on the car in the last year than I've ever put on it in the last 39 years, new tech. is great. Going back to PINK's in Nov. will set the boost controler to run low 10's on 6-7lbs of boost Just a a little update |

Re: Sunbeam Tiger: Installing Turbo's
Jerry, One impressive brawler there. Anything you can do, to improve those 60' times ? With the trap speeds your runnin, you should have plenty of et. potential, with more hook-up ? Good Luck, roverman.

Re: Sunbeam Tiger: Installing Turbo's
Art I could stay on the rev limiter longer and get more boost but its so hard on the tranny and conveter that its not worth it to me.
Tranny & converter are low buck parts but have stayed together. Also I could put some real slicks on and let it eat but just don't want to start breaking parts. Wife is finally talking to me when something comes up about the car, could'nt believe it today I wanted buy a part for the car and she said it was alright to use the American Express almost fell over LOL |
