Re: Post Your 2008 Commitments Here-- What's Your Agenda?
I'm starting to think it would be nice to attend MG2008. The Philadelphia area is so nice, and it's fairly close to my parents.
I ordered new Panasport wheels last week, so bigger stickier tires will be in my future soon. After that, I have lots of project ideas and no specific plans. My bride bought me a MIG welder for Christmas, so I'll probably find lots of uses for that. (The first project - a dual-purpose welding-cart / welding-table - turned out pretty well.) Who's next? |

Have to finish my '69 GT and thinking about looking into what it takes to import an RV8 into Canada........legally of course. If our "15-year-old" import rules actually apply to an RV8, I could get a '93 here in '08.

I have an oil leak in need to fix. Investigation so far is it source is the rear main and the oil pump area. Anyone with prior experience oil leaks in these areas let me know.
Also need to prep the car for body work and a paint job. |

This entire scenario is totally bonkers for me. It's so upside down. Give me 3 months and it might make some sense but in the dead of winter when lifting a finger to do anything at all is a pretty big commitment? You're liable to get things like, "check one bolt for tightness sometime in the next month or so... if loose try to tighten by spring."
This time of year Edith who has no such troubles saps all my energies with her big projects like flooring the basement. Work on cars? What's a car? Jim |

The Toyota conversion is done. The paint is done. Now all I have left is to finish up the interior and upholstery and a bit of the wirings.
By summer, I should be able to start on my 69 Mustang Mach 1 428CJ that I picked up here in Thailand a few years ago. That's gonna be a while... |

Thanks Curtis. Still a while yet until she's photogenic. They will be forthcoming once she's done. In the mean time, Happy New Year!

Re: Post Your 2008 Commitments Here-- What's Your Agenda?
I will be picking up my 1961 215 from the machine shop this week and bringing it home to put it all together. It really looked good when I was over there last, much better than when it was all covered with grease and mud. Then I just need to find an MGA to stick it in. I would like to say that I will get right on it but the garage is really cold right now.

Re: Post Your 2008 Commitments Here-- What's Your Agenda?
Hi Steve,
I just got a 70 BGT and my 79 302 ford project is moving slowly and should be done by April 15th or so. I've been thinking of a V6 for my new GT. Any info you can give me would be appreciated. What flavor V6 did you use? Have you heard of anyone using a Buick Regal supercharged motor in a B? I really can't handle two projects at one time but if a good motor waltzed by me I'd have to reconsider. Thanks, Marc |

Re: Post Your 2008 Commitments Here-- What's Your Agenda?
Marc,
I see Curtis has given you my How it was done address. The car is a blast to drive on the street. I now have over 39000 miles on it. Will you be at the v8 meet in Port Washington? I should have mine there this year. Third year for me, and I will try not to miss any of them now. My engine has over 130000 on it and still running fine. If it ever causes a problem I will go to a factory 3.4. Let me know if I can answer any questions. Steve |

Re: Post Your 2008 Commitments Here-- What's Your Agenda?
1 Help my dad finish his 57 Ford thats in my shop. We pulled the motor and trans, for over-haul.
2 Help my brother, convert his 67 GTO over to disc brakes. 3 Replace some more windows in the house. (honey do, may get bumped up to #2)! 4 Try and install my, "in the ground" hoist this summer. Built a new shop in 06, then started the supercharger project. With the S/C project 99% done, this should give me some time to finish some of the details on the shop. 5 Do some resto work on the 68 CGT 6 Finally get around to pulling the motor/trans out of the 67 B. Then fix the inopp over-drive. 7 Which is really #1. Taking the better half on a trip to the Tahitian Islands, this summer for our 25th anniversary! Bill Edited 1 time(s). Re: Post Your 2008 Commitments Here-- What's Your Agenda?
Hi Steve,
I have reservations at the hotel in Wisconsin, but my oldest son's wife is due with my first grand child about the same time. I had a great time at the Willoughby, Ohio meeting, but I didn't have a car then. I am now in the middle of a 79 roadster/302 transplant and ran into a great deal on a good 70 BGT that I couldn't turn down. I'd like to get a crate motor for it but money is too tight for 2 projects right now. If I happen to see a good motor, it would temp me more than my wife would like. Did you use the stock rear end? How is it working out? I'd like to use as many of the stock parts I can to keep costs down, but I don't want to use something that doesn't work. I understand the crate motors are set up for automatic trans. Is it a problem to switch to a t5? Hope I get to Wisconsin. I'd like to drive my roadster across Michigan and take the ferry across Lake Michigan to central Wisconsin. Sounds like a nice trip. I'll try to talk some of the guys from Canada and Michigan into caravaning. Hope to see you there. Marc |

1) Also, fix leak in rear engine/trans.
2) Install audiovox cruise control and rollbar before britishv8 meet. Curtis - What size Panasports did you order? Have you made a decision on tire size and make? All-season or summer radial? Regards, Tony |

Re: Post Your 2008 Commitments Here-- What's Your Agenda?
Quote: I bought 15x6 wheels - very handsome! Not as light as I would've liked though, at 15.0#. As for tires I think I've decided on Falken "Azenis" tires - [www.falken.com.au] - but I haven't made it into town to have them installed yet. My local shop sells them for $93 including mounting, balancing, etc... They're a very sticky summer tire that's especially popular with the autocross crowd. They only come in one 15" version: 205/50. I figure as long as I'm gonna run 205/50 tires, there's no reason to use a wider wheel. I actually loaded the wheels into the car last night, but it snowed yet again today and that took the wind out of my sails. My alley has been ice-covered for months, and it will be awhile before the sand and salt is off the Colorado roads. |
