MG Rover RV8's
Rover/MG fans,
Has anyone "sighted" MG/Rover RV8's from Puerto Rico or the Dominican Republic - relics from Caribbean hurricanes - being recently offered for sale on the internet ? All were right hand drive, MG B type, late model, Heritage, roadster chassis's with Rover 3.9 V8's. Please reply if any info is available. Keep them on the track, Phillip G. |

I believe one arrived - in parts and numerous crates - in Chicago a couple of years ago. It's been rebuilt and is roadworthy. Beautiful car.

Re: MG Rover RV8's
Phillip, recently there were a couple of posts on the MG Experience board concerning a RV8 being imported into Canada from Japan. Other than that I haven't seen any mention of RV8s anywhere else. [www.mgexperience.net]

Re: MG Rover RV8's
something I have been hearing that is scary especially here in canada are guys buying up hurricane Katrina vehicles that were completely immersed, drying them out and cleaning them up and selling them at top prices here with no disclosure of what happened to them...you then get a piece of junk that has got rusty engine innards and a body that will soon rust to pieces...buyer beware!

Re: MG Rover RV8's
Simon,
Congratulations on the RV8 - a beautiful example. They should have all come in BRG. I am painting my GT2 RV8 the very same color - well, as close as I can make it. Hope I get to see yours in person someday. Keep them on the track. Phillip G |

Re: MG Rover RV8's
Thanks Phillip. Ironically, this green isn't BRG but "Woodcote". One of the specialty colours offered by Rover at the time. If you'd like a code, I found a bottle of touch-up paint in the glove box I can pass along.
I've never been a green car fan but this does suit the RV8 nicely. Cheers Simon |

Re: MG Rover RV8's
Simon,
Thank you ! I would love to have the code number of the RV8 Woodcote Green ! I am about to repaint - for the 2nd or 3rd, or 4th time - the 4 corners of the RV8 racer. I have 2 front RV8 fibreglass copies of the original RV8 steel fenders - greatly flared to accomodate the 16x8 front wheels - and even greater RV8 fibreglass copies of the rear panels - that are being resized - again- for clearance. Repainting is necessary and I would love to use the code numbers for the RV8 Woodcote green - for the new painting. Thank you for the generous offer - and oh, the RV8 fibreglass boot lid is yet to be painted as are the fibreglass copies of the front and rear bumpers. They, too, can be painted with the Woodcote Green ! And while at it, I may just repaint the RV8 bonnet with hump (fibreglass, too) in Woodcote Green ! Keep them on the track. Phillip G |
