Here my baby....68 rover with edelbrock intake/4-barrel carb, comp cam, silvolite pistons, T-5 out of a S-10, ford 8" diff, 73 chrome bumpers, remote filter and cooler.......mods am doing at moment: new RV8 headers from D&D, prestolite point to electronic, hi-po coil, dual exhaust (I hope), 13" grant steering whelel ....its going in tomorrow for a cross member exchange, the one installed had a crooked mount for rack/pinion, I have another one.... so going to change it out and do the headers at same time

Very nice install.

A question that you may be able to answer for me...why the axle change to a Ford 8" when the original axle is more than capable of handling the power? Is it purely down to final drive ratios giving better cruising revs/mph or is there another reason?

actually I mis-printed info ....it is a 9" ford....total overkill to be sure ....this engine will never faze this rear end, but ya it runs really nice and really tops out at high speed.

Very NICE John!

Mine came with a Dana 44 (post office jeep) with 3.07 gears - STRONG, but would rather have a Ford 8" and loose maybe 50 lbs.!

May I ask what exhaust manifold/headers you have on there now?

I'm leaning toward finding some Buick 300 exhaust manifolds because they would be quieter.

I have an edelbrock performer and a matching 4 barrel, had to put a very low profile cleaner in to get hood to close....it works really well and as to the headers..... I had block huggers but changed them out the other day and put in RV8 through the fender, then going to put in true duals exhaust out front of rear wheels...going to try some glass pack cherry bombs too...should be real good for more power and the cool factor....but won't be able to test till spring....we are about -30C in Kanada out here lately...I got to heat the car up before I can even start it....I think it has a block heater fitting but to cold to fool with it.
I think it is your muffler choices that would make it quieter, I don't find headers to be that noisy by themselves, I have a olod truck with headrs and a couple turbos and it is amazingly civil but still has a nice rumble
