Re: home made breathers?
heres some stuff I found on the internet....one is a snazzy after market set up and the other is a compressor in line moisture fliter....I wonder if i could make one out of that, put a paper filter on end of hose and the inline should catch all the oil to be dumped at regular intervals...the guy who posted the pics has the hose running back to the oil pan and it is threaded in and he never loses any oil...can't see rthat being to good if you are going up a hill or something....thoughts to ponder. I wonder if it is worthwhile just routing it to the air cleaner??

Re: home made breathers?
Spun stainless steel (or aluminum) water bottles have gotten so very cheap that I've become quite tempted to make a breather tank. (I don't really need one, but it would be a neat project.) I would invert the bottle and silver solder a fitting to the top to take a standard K&N type breather filter. A second piece of tubing silver soldered to the side... Hose clamp it to a bracket. Presto.
There are several nice home-made breathers on this site already, and especially on the new BritishRaceCar site. These come to mind: Storm Field's MGB Marcus Jones' MGB |
