iI have a 76 roadster with a 2.8 Chevy conversion and a Camaro V8 T5. I want to do a 5.0 conversion for a little more power but you can't match the sound of a V8. I have looked at the Mantell kit but to minimize costs I would like to keep my trans. Is this possible?

I'm waiting to hear from them, myself, on a ford conversion. I too have a 76 roadster. I would think that it should be possible, but I'm no expert.

You can adapt but it is easier to sell your trans and buy a Mustang T5. That said, Speedway Motors has the adapter and pilot bushing. You would use a pre-T5 Ford 3 or 4 speed bellhousing with the adapter, the Ford T5 bellhousing is deeper. You will need a 26 spline Camaro V8 (10.4 diam) clutch disk to fit the tranny and Ford Mustang pressure plate to match your flywheel. Last I checked the adapter was around $250. It's $299 now.
