GM v6 3.4L with 4L60e transmission

I am restoring another 1972 MGB, but this one is for my wife. I am removing the MG engine and putting in the GM 3.4l v6 fuel injected engine with third generation AL heads and the 4L60e automatic transmission from a 1995 Camaro. How much modification has to be done in the transmission tunnel and is there a cross member transmission support kit available to fit the 4L60e transmission? Also Joe Hutcherson from this forum, had put a FORD power steering rack in his MGB, but which ford and year did it come from and what modification where done to make it work correctly. My first 1972 B restoration, I had custom built the fuel injection on the stock MG engine and used the FORD EDIS controller instead of the distributor and using the Megasquirt ECU. This build is to keep my wife happy. Need a little coaching to complete this project. May have more questions later.

Thanks, Walt

Walt, Check out the thread on Electric power steering on the Handling section on this site. The auto has been done usually the 700R4.

If you haven't yet bought the trans, you might want to look into a 200-4R, as they do not need electronic controls, and may be more compact than the 4L60E. I have been told the 200-4R will bolt up to the 3.4 by a trans builder I was discussing this combo with during Hot August Nights. Summit Racing puts on an expo
where the public can see the wares and ask questions of suppliers. From what I have read, some guys like the 200-4R for early Ford roadsters because it is narrower than the 700R4, and doesn't require as large a
tunnel. One issue with the 700R4 is that you don't want to run them in Overdrive under 45 mph, as the pump doesn't turn fast enough to deliver full pressure - although B&M and others do make kits to increase the pressure and resolve the issue.

The 2004R has a dual bolt pattern, SBC and BOP. To fit to the GM 60 degree V6 it requires a Speedway Motors adapter plate. It can be found in mostly Monte Carlo's and Buicks with V6 and 305 V8. It has a better first gear and the pan area is narrower. The 700R4 found behind 2.8 and 3.1 V6 Camaro/Firebird and S10/S15 pickups needs no adapter and has a lower first gear and wider pan rail. TCI has a valve to prevent OD under around 60mph. Both have to have the TV cable adjusted properly.
