I noticed while pushing this MGB around the I X Center while at the Piston Powered Autorama that on a sharp right turn it felt like the tire was dragging on the right side. I jacked the car up today to change the oil and lube all the suspension joints and while I had it up I figured I'd raise the front end up an inch and see if that would get rid of the rub. Well that didn't work in fact it got worse. So I pulled the right front tire and started looking around and found that the tire was rubbing on the oxygen sensor welded into the wheel well header on the right side. Now I'm going to have to pull that header and move the O2 sensor. This kind of sucks because the headers are ceramic coated and I'll have to remove the the coating and weld in a patch then relocate the O2 bung and weld that in. The turn around at Jet Hot Coatings is around 6 weeks so sending them out to be recoated is time prohibitive. I'm wondering if spraying those 2 areas with high temp paint would be a good idea. or just wait till next winter to pull them off and send them out.

High temp paint will work fine until winter. Jet Hot will have to blast them clean anyway. You don't want to miss any good weather driving!! Winter is the time for primp, polish and improvements. Mike

If it's a heated sensor you could get a screw in plug for the bung in the header and put a new bung in the down pipe. That way you don't have to mess with your coated header. Just a thought.

I'm thinking I'm going to go with the heat paint. The area is inside the fender well behind the tire and can't be seen from the engine bay. So a quick fix and on the road again by Townsend.

You can buy a brushable/sprayable ceramic coating from Techline that you can use to do a spot repair.

I'm up for Scott's Idea in the short term.
If it's a heated O2 sensor it doesn't really care where it is in the exhaust system.
You could put it in the tail pipe and it would work just fine.
Put a plug in the header bung and move the sensor down stream.
You can make it pretty next winter when you have more time.

I moved the bung today, a little heat paint and that will do for now. Now to find that loose screw floating around in my head. ( the other problem thread)

Most of us here have one of those! ;)
